Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience As someone who was born and raised in Harlem, I was truly disappointed by my recent experience at this cigar lounge. I stopped by with friends from out of town, as I have done before, to enjoy the atmosphere and ask a simple question of the manager. Instead of receiving a professional response, I was told that I was "too close" to him and that his partner was present. This comment was completely unnecessary, inappropriate, and made me feel disrespected. I was maintaining a normal conversational distance and simply asking a question—nothing about the interaction warranted such a response. The remark came across as presumptuous and unprofessional, especially in a customer-facing role. As a patron, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect, not made to feel uncomfortable or insulted. Unfortunately, this experience has changed my perception of the establishment. I will no longer be recommending this lounge to friends or visitors, which is disappointing because I previously enjoyed bringing guests here. Respect and professionalism should be standard, especially in a community space.

It's a really chill place to lounge and enjoy a cigar, with good music. I visited twice so far and just learned there's a downstairs. Good ppl,good conversation, great ambiance. And I'll be back again when I am in the area. Jill is a delight and very welcoming.

Really great experience. The owner’s girlfriend is the manager. She is lovely. The owners were late getting to establishment but were professional and apologized. The vibe was great; the cigars were great; the music was great; the members were great. We were coming from Switzerland. (Yes, black people live in Switzerland.) We will be back

Wow, so, I like this place; however I feel they could be a little more flexible. So, I visited one Friday early evening; 6pm and the place was completely empty, besides the African American man with a salt and pepper full beard who refused to let me in unless I was one: a member or two if I paid $25 bucks to enter. I only wanted to have one rum and coke and sit long enough for that one drink, cause I had dinner plans to attend. I just miss "Old Harlem" when club, lounge and bar owners were just straight up COOL! And, when I let him know that I am friends with a member; he allowed me to sit near the door to wait for my friend who is a member. However, he didn't offer me a drink while waiting for the member of the cigar lounge. As I was sitting alone, I witnessed people begin to come in...all males who had memberships; and, he served them cocktails while the ONLY female without a membership waiting on someone with a membership as their guest, was not even offered a glass of water. I was disappointed because I am used to men being kind and friendly and chivalrous towards women no matter what. I wasn't loud or rude and carried myself like a lady and a friend of a member. At least offering me a glass of water while I waited would have been kind. Update on my experience here. Mike, the manager with the salt and pepper beard, helped me understand why they MUST stick to the membership rules or they could lose their license. He also explained the process of becoming a member, and, I'm happy to say that I will soon be a member. I paid my day pass and followed the rules and Mike was more than happy to assist me. I came to NY for the Strength of A Woman show with Mary J Blige. Googled a black owned cigar lounge and came across this gem .Mike and Amber were so welcoming and displayed customer service excellence from the time me and my friends walked through the door. This made my trip so worthwhile because I’m a Lady of the Leaf and I wanted to go to a lounge similar like the one back home in Nashville. Harlem Sanctuary exceeded my expectations and it did give me that feeling and the staff and customers were my family! The lounge seating was plush and comfortable. The humidor was stocked and filled prestige cigars. I’ll definitely be back and I highly recommend Harlem Sanctuary Social Club! The DJ #DirtyBob brought the vibes!!! As a DJ, I totally was in the groove with him. He definitely fulfilled music needs. You gotta stop by and show some love and respect!!!

This upscale cigar lounge is what Harlem needs. I love this lounge and its atmosphere. A great place to meet and mingle. The decor is masculine but elegant at the same time. They have an impressive cigar menu if you want to indulge. I appreciate the stunning customer service and I highly recommend Harlem Sanctuary. Great Experience! I will be going back
