Bayou Room
The Bayou Room in Alexandria offers a laid-back yet engaging atmosphere, blending a cigar lounge upstairs with a lively dance floor downstairs. The venue caters to a mature crowd, providing a mix of jazz or blues performances and DJ-spun beats, making it ideal for unwinding or letting loose. While the basement area may feel a bit cramped, its energetic ambiance and occasional late-night eats nearby add to the appeal.
Service quality varies, with some patrons noting attentive staff and others encountering pushy interactions at the bar. The alcohol selection leans toward affordability rather than premium choices, though the overall vibe remains welcoming. Early visits might find the space quieter, but it transforms into a more dynamic setting as the night progresses—best suited for those seeking a relaxed yet social experience.

Not a bad place to go dancing, listen to a DJ and have a drink or two. Last day in Alexandria and the lady and I needed a place to chill and get a little crazy. I really like the fact that it was a mix crowd with people mainly over 25 years of age. Absolutely no drama, just pure fun. I gave it 2 stars because its in a basement area and they allow smoking on the dance floor. Unfortunately my girlfriend and I were positioned right next to a cigar dancer and a veep' guy. Once we left, our clothes and my girls hair smelled like pure smoke. The alcohol wasn't the best quality, the music was good, and everyone danced with everyone. For a bonus, if you get a little hungry after midnight, head over to HANDOVER BY THE SLICE - great pizza
Upstairs was too packed I didn't stay. Hope I caught it on a bad night I will try again. Love the area but the crowd in the basement was not my scene that night. It was cold out.
Dope spot. They do allow smoking indoors on both levels. Service, food, and drinks were great. Upstairs in the cigar lounge they live music, typically jazz or blues.. down stairs has a dance area with DJ - small but good club vibes.
So my a group of friends went out to dinner last Saturday . We got all dressed up and to 219. The decor inside was very small yet cute . We sat in a back room behind the hostess stand (the downside is we kept feeling the cold draft of wind coming through the door ) But other than that , our server was great , our food was delicious
Small bar downstairs under the main restaurant. Probably more fun later on in the evening but at 6.30 pm we were the only people there . They had a movie playing on the television and our request for some music was turned down. Decent happy hour prices on beer and wine.
Twice now my friend and I feel like we’ve been targeted by the older woman bartender downstairs. We’ll come in, dance for a bit and not ten minutes goes by before she’s demanding us to buy something or leave. We don’t see her doing that to other patrons so we’re not sure if one person in the party has to buy something or everyone does, but it’s an unpleasant experience to literally just mind your own and to be watched like a hawk just to make a purchase. No other location for dancing in the area has done that and I’ve been there before these last two times recently and that hasn’t occurred so I’m not quite sure what her deal is, but it’s hard to want to make a purchase if you’re forced to before you’re ready, and we always usually make a purchase. Maybe we want to dance for a bit and sober up before having another drink; seems pretty normal to do. I get that you need to make money but it’s one thing if maybe 45 minutes or an hour passed maybe, but this happened to us when the place was both crowded as well as being empty. The music is good and there’s space to actually dance which is great, but otherwise she has been ruining the vibe. Do better.
Came to the Bayou Room and the only thing that stood out more than the music was the ridiculously rude service from the bartender. She/he refused to tell me their name. I was polite, but all I got in return was attitude and eye rolling. Honestly, they’re lucky they caught me on a good day, because they definitely deserved some words.
