Mac's Place

I will say this place is a great place to watch sports, especially if you're a Chicago bears fan. That being said, the two times we went there the people serving never smiled not once, barely communicated. It must not be a great place to work. The wings were very good, perfectly cooked so much so that we went back and had them again the next day.

All the decorations are Chicago but the food isn't. Im from Chicago and was walking by and saw a Chicago restaurant and got excited. I walked in sat down and it wasn't just me it was 5 of us. Waited around for a while then I got up to the bar to get a menu. Waited around again and then got up to place my order since there is no customer service here. I decided to stay because I was starving and ordered the Italian beef. The Italian beef didn't taste like Vienna beef and it was more like salted minced meat. The bread I won't comment. The fries jeez, old oil crispy brown battered fries that tasted like old cooking oil. I hope this place gets its act together because Chicago food does not taste like this. As previously mentioned the place looks nice inside and it reminds you of back home but the service and food is bad . Response to the owners anwer: ACCOUNTABILITY! If it was Vienna beef then why did your "cook" mince it? Angry, . Todays been the happiest day ever! We were happy that we ran into this place. We're from Chicago . Being far from home celebrating our sons Miltary accomplishments I tell him, hey son look at that a Chicago restaurant heck yeah let's go! Ok dad let's go. We can get an Italian beef or gyro, which you dont even have and call yourself Chicago lol . I notice from all the reviews that you have an excuse for your short comings. This has definitely been a very entertaining response from an owner . Excuses excuse are like well you know the rest

Just ate here today. Fun, enjoyable, and delicious! The beef stew was fantastic. Fried pickles were great. The pecan salad was amazing! Everyone left full and happy!

Chicago sports fan bar with an Irish Pub vibe. Arcade games and a large bar. Service was fast and the place was clean.

A wonderful spacious pub near the Charleston City Market. Beautiful interior, great atmosphere and food, wide selection of drinks. And, of course, the best bartender!

My husband and I were downtown yesterday to provision more food for our boat trip, but decided we had to have lunch first. We walked into Mac's around 2:30pm on a Monday, so it wasn't too loud or crowded, but there were plenty of TV screens, music and lots of drink and food choices on that cold day. My husband ordered a vegetarian burger with mushrooms and provolone cheese. I ordered a bowl of Italian Wedding soup with a half of a Reuben sandwich. It was a warm and filling lunch on that 33⁰ day. We hated to leave, but we had to get groceries. Chris was our waitress and was fantastic! We'll look forward to a longer visit to Mac's Place the next time we're in Charleston. ( I was very tempted to order their Guinness Beef Stew, but love a good Reuben too.)

As a first time guest here, I am 100% satisfied. The food was amazing! The drinks are made to perfection. My server, Liz, was wonderful!! She made me feel so welcome & gave me great recommendations from the menu. The cheese stuffed pretzels are delicious. I will be adding this place to my list of go-to’s. I really enjoyed my experience here!
