Scenic Setting, Hardworking Staff – Worth the Wait We visited Rum Runners on July 14, 2025, and while the experience came with a wait, it was still a memorable evening. When we arrived, all tables were full and only two servers on duty—our server immediately apologized and let us know some staff hadn’t shown up. Despite that, she absolutely hustled all night long with a great attitude. Major props for her effort! Yes, it took two hours, but we didn’t mind. The beautiful patio setting right on the water made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere while we waited. The food was just okay—mostly fried and a limited menu—but we went in expecting that. Nothing fresh. For us, it was more about the vibe and view, and on that front, it delivered. Several boats arrived at the patio dock and docked while we were there. Fun to watch them come and go. Prices were reasonable, and the staff did their best under pressure. If you go, go for the setting—and bring a little patience just in case. Parking was easy and convenient. Sunset was amazing afterwards too!
Rum Runner is located right by Lake Erie, making it a perfect spot to watch the sunset while enjoying your food and drinks. Everything we tried today was delicious. All the fried seafood was fresh and came with three sauces (my favorite is the cold sweet sauce). The burger was juicy and well-seasoned. I really love their special cocktails—my go-tos are the Passion Colada and the Rum Runner. Both drinks are refreshing and perfect for summer. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Had a great time here and will definitely be back!
We were visiting Erie, PA and decided on Rum Runners for a late lunch because it has seating right on the waterfront looking out to Presque Isle. We both ordered perch and French fries, which were very good. The restaurant is all part of the Bicentennial Tower complex in Erie, which is a must see if you are in the area. Our server was very pleasant and attentive to our table and we had a good experience while enjoying the view. Check out the "pirate ship" that swung by while we were eating.
WOW….what a find !! Wish I had more "stars" to give them. Got there early, by the time we left…. ALL outside tables were full !! We were looking for a spot on the water to eat lunch…. We found the best place. 🥇 Right on the water, able to see the Bicentennial Tower clearly and watching the geese and boats come into & out of the Marina. We sat outside and Brook was our Server. Delightful lady with a great smile. Very attentive. We ordered our drinks & the Debbie’s Burger with fries & coleslaw. The hamburger was cooked perfectly medium rare and spot on seasoning. Fries were not super crunchy but they were good. Kudos to the Chef !!! Almost wish we lived here just to get lunch here again. Highly recommended.
I like to come at least once a season, and everytime I come i remember why it’s usually once or twice a season lol, atmosphere is awesome being right by the water on a nice day, seeing the boats, watching people pull up on their boat, they have bands sometimes, it’s always a nice time. With that being said the drinks are sooo overpriced , the food isn’t bad, not great, just a very basic menu, but paying $10-12 a drink it’s not somewhere I would stay and hang out, one shot was $10 & the frozen drink was $12 Ended up shooting up to that place after we left and paid 7.50 for 2 of the same shots I get they’re only open for the season but still
We stopped here for drinks and a bite to eat on 7/3/25. I had a Passion Colada which was good. We also had the Macho Nacho’s. The chips were broken, otherwise the nachos were good. Rum Runners is right on the docks in downtown Erie, Pa so the atmosphere is very nice.
Service was extremely slow, and we were sitting at the bar. My perch dinner was fantastic and their homemade tartar sauce is by far the best I've ever had! It has onion in it and really gave a nice flavor pop! The Rum Runner cocktail was very good, tasted like a cherry slurpie!
