situated above a soul food place kinda near the Wolf Pack arena, the Pig's Eye has all the trappings expected of good watering hole: smoking patio (though having a salient lack of butt receptacles, pool tables and a good selection of taps and bottles to satisfy the discerning hockey aficionado or run of the mill drunkard. i prefer beer so i started with the Pigs Eye Lager, which is not brewed onsite but boasted of excellent flavor, despite my sense that the tap might benefit from a thorough cleaning. The clientele is a bag as mixed as the city which claims its incorporation: concert goers, and sports fans as well as the normal motley crew of bar goers ranging from corporate lawyer to neighborhood denizen. On a Saturday around 7 the locale was lightly attended and featured an 80s music feed of pop, new wave and rock. you could do worse. The bartender was cool , and judging by his asking for my ID, which hasn't happened in years for me, deals with at least a modicum of young patrons trying to pass off fake identification. my first impression is favorable, besmirched only by trivial peccadillos. 7.5/10 would come again

PIGS EYE IS THE BESTTTT! To start, there is never a cover charge, which in Hartford, that alone is huge! From the bartenders to the bar backs to the bouncers, everyone here is amazing. If you’re cool and respectful, you’ll be met with the same energy. Also special shoutout to Alyssa and Jazz! They’re the best!!

Cool place. No actual food/kitchen which is the only reason food catches the 1. Fun atmosphere and large drink selection. They do encourage grabbing some carryout nearby and bringing it. The food you see on Google is for the restaurant below. Southern soul food.

Very rowdy during parade days and other big event. But a good time for drinks and dive bar games.

A great bar with cool people from all walks. I stopped by from out of town on a Wednesday and shot pool with the regulars and they made me feel welcome- great beer selection too. Thank you!

I went about two weeks ago with my husband, we drank three rounds of margaritas, when we asked for the bill, they gave me the receipt to sign and I put 10.00 dollars of tips, after two days that I see my account statement they had charged me 100 dollars of tips !!! I made the claim to the bank and since they don't give a receipt in that place I couldn't verify that the tip was 10.00 dollars not 100!! I don't fly to that place anymore, the people who work there are the worst! Especially the woman who got 100 dollars worth of tips!!!!
