Excellent experience and meeting super friendly and memorable bar tender names Michael! What a surprise when you walk around town rather than drive we happened to pass this amazing bar with such History and memorable experience and pictures to brag about. I lived only 4 blocks away in 1990s and never walked around down town but had a lovely Sunday afternoon walking around China Town and visiting this amazing memorable bar with such History

Cool ambiance, very friendly service and a wide selection of drinks. Got two glasses of good Kentucky whiskey 🥃 as a nice ending of my visit to Chinatown Honolulu.

I was out and about basically reminiscing. This bar was the 1st bar my mother worked at and this is before I was born. Matter of fact She met my dad there He was Navy. She'll talk about how hard it will be trying to convince a man that he's been cut off? She said " I felt more like a bouncer then a bar maid". She'll say the importance of taking care of a man in uniform, especially if they are far from home. Never take advantage because they are drunk and don't soak them out of what may need to go home. During our stay in Hawaii we found this hidden gem of a bar. All the customers we receptive of us and the bar tenders were on point. It definitely beat the hell out of paying tourists prices most everywhere else. I sent some Louisiana things and hope they get hung in the bar. Also look closely at the top of the walls is like the hull of a Battleship

Oldest bar on Oahu. Serviced our men and women in uniform throughout WWII. If those walls could talk! Divey and dim. Loud and perfect. Go just so you can say you've been. Cold drinks and history. What more could you ask for?

Look, if you're searching for fancy napkins and a blast of arctic air conditioning, just keep walking. This ain't it. Smith's is the real deal. It's hot, it's a little dirty, and it's wonderfully full of locals. This is a bartender's bar. The atmosphere is perfect, the service is real, and it's easily the best damn bar in Hawaii. Five stars. No notes

Went in for the dive-iness, not knowing what we were getting into. Left with a deep understanding of the neighborhood and WWII military history. Thank you Jay for the education and the experience. Oh and the cheap beer.
