Bob Taylor's Ranch House

📍 Leather bars in Las Vegas

8.1

Nestled just 25 minutes off the strip, this historic steakhouse offers a charming old western atmosphere, making it a unique dining experience in Las Vegas. Renowned as the oldest steakhouse in the city, it boasts a rich history, including appearances in classic films. The mesquite-grilled steaks are a standout, known for their melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, complemented by hearty sides and signature garlic offerings.

The service is notably warm and inviting, enhancing the down-home ambiance. While some dishes may not fully justify the price point, the overall experience is comforting and nostalgic. The presentation is simple, leaning towards classic rather than premium, but the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere make it a memorable spot for a relaxed, old-school dining experience.

Hubby took me here tonight and the experience honestly felt like I walked onto the set of Dallas; old-school and quaint for sure (in a good way). The waitress was extremely sweet, which definitely helped set a positive tone. We started with the crab-stuffed mushrooms, which were honestly the highlight of the meal, rich, flavorful, and very well done. The deep-fried calamari, however, was extremely salty to the point of being hard to enjoy. For our entrees, my husband ordered the 12 oz ribeye with a twice-baked potato, and I had the Cajun salmon with mixed vegetables. Both meals also came with soup or salad. The food itself was decent, but overall fairly straightforward and not especially memorable. Overall, the service was kind and the atmosphere was very "down home," but the food and presentation didn’t quite match the price point. The plating felt more cafeteria-classic than destination dining, and visually, nothing really signaled premium or special-occasion pricing. Some dishes landed better than others, but for the overall experience and cost, it’s not a place I’d feel compelled to revisit.

This classic old school establishment is located just 25 minutes off the strip. It's the oldest steak house in Las Vegas with an old western atmosphere. The location was used for skeet shooting scenes with Elvis Presley & Ann Margaret in the movies "Viva Las Vegas"! Some of their specialties are mesquite-grilled steaks that melt in your mouth, the hearty sides & the best garlic cheese bread. The service is quick & friendly all in a western vibe!

I was very excited to finally dine here, I have been wanting to come here for 2 years. I was disappointed that it didn't turn out as great as I hoped it would. The appetizer, steak, twice baked potato were served luke warm or room temp. The potato had a weird flavor mixed in it that I don't think it belonged in there. The bread was great and was my favorite part of the meal experience. Server was great and the busser was quick. He kept asking for my plate while I'm still using it. Flavor of the food served doesn't match the price they are charging for them. From Denny's to Primal to The Steakhouse, this was Outback at best. Texas Roadhouse is better. I really wanted to love this place 😞

Let me start off with the food is delicious, and the waitstaff were nice. However, I had higher expectations regarding other aspects. We went around 2pm and it was pretty empty. The parkinglot had trash around, but I figured with the wind, that can happen. Then there was a mess all over the floor at our table, visible even in the dim lighting. I got a dirty glass, that was explained as hard water stains...which would have been fine, but when a "replacement" came, I drank it down only to find the same issue, but it had been covered up because my cup was filled top to bottom with ice. I don't know that we will be back.

Very over priced for what you get. Went for lunch. The burgers and sandwiches averaged $20.00 a piece. There was nothing special about any of the 3 different sandwiches we ordered except they were very expensive. It’s lovely outside but dark inside and it’s noon time! It wasn’t busy at lunch and no reservations needed. There was adequate parking. Our server was rude and inattentive. We will not go back. So many other restaurants where the food is better and not so expensive.

So, im not going to really be able to go in depth with this review because its pretty much straight to the point. This is one of the best Ranch houses i have ever been in. Their food is absolutely amazing. I was going to have their new york steak, but i walked in and saw them cooking a full rack of baby back ribs so i changed my mind the last minute. The whole exsperience was amazing. Nice and quiet inside, they have an amazing bar where you can also watch a game and have dinner with your adult beverage! 🤣.. As soon as we pulled up, you could smell the bbq before you even walked inside. Its a bit of a trek from the vegas strip and its a bit out in no mans land if your a tourist, but i promise you wont regret taking the time to come check this gem out! There really is something here for every pallet! You can thank me later!
