First time watching a movie here. Absolutely loved it! I really liked the interior design. Everything was very clean. Seats recline and are comfortable. They come with a wide tray for your food. Not sure if the trays can collapse but if you’re a bigger person you will have to squeeze into your seat 😅Food was good. We ordered popcorn w/butter and a pretzel. The pretzel was so soft! We also got a boozy whiskey banana split shake. Delicious! The server we had was very nice and explained the process of how to order food. Theaters are small, which I prefer. It makes the experience more cozy and personal. Bathrooms are clean and unisex. So don’t be surprised about that. My only con was getting there. There is parking. Just remember to VALIDATE it. It’s $6 validated but $40 plus with no validation. We had to take multiple elevators to get there. And got a little lost trying to get back to our car. Anyways, their website gives you very detailed information about everything. So read it before you go. This will be my theater of choice for future movie outings.
Absolutely the best movie theater. They go the extra mile to give you an amazing different experience then your usual movie theater. I love that you can sit down on a reclining chair, lift your feet, and eat and drink while watching movies. They are so quiet when bringing you your food and drinks you don't even notice them. I have to say thief food is pretty good my favorite is their grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, and their chip and queso yummy. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful and courteous. Oh I always bring a blanket adds to the cozy vibes.
Went for my birthday and the popcorn machine is broken. Who goes to the movies and not get popcorn. The waiter said well they have fries. Been to the locations in Austin and loved it. Maybe buy 2 machines since theres a decent amount of theaters?! Also, my drink got put on my friends tab and not mine. Will stick with the traditional theaters.
I love this place we have been going got years. I refuse to give five stars because they recent were purchased by Sony who changed some fundamental and charming things about the theater. Before they had more food options and better food. They also have no switched to QR code only order which saves Sony money but takes away from the charm and fun the theater. Please bring back more gluten free options, actual menus and interaction with the kind and amazing staff. Sony please don’t ruin this staple in downtown Los Angeles. No more enshitification!
Listen, I’m an avid movie goer but in the last 5 years 9/10 I’m picking a dine-in theater just for the cocktails because 9/10 the food is late and Luke warm AND NASTY. Usually a Terrible experience for the $20 ticket price AND 40$ bill. Even when I went to Alamo SF back in 2017-19 same freaking issue! From then on I just ordered popcorn and cocktail (MAYBE lukewarm fried pickles) cuz why waste my money??? Idk what happened at the top of the company food chain but I’ve been to THIS dtla Alamo 8-9 times in the last 2 years and my food is ALWAYS HOT and delicious! And i receive it in a reasonable amount of time. I’m big on customer service and except for this ONE time when a waiter pissed me off and I just left mid movie, it was that one waiter. Every other time the food is great dinner/restaurant quality and always hot! ANND the service staff is soooo kind and helpful and take their jobs seriously. Don’t give them less than a 20% tip. And quiet as it’s kept, prices are like 1$ cheaper than Cinepolise so quality and pricing are there. I live in Inglewood and have no issue driving downtown JUST for Alamo! QUALITY NEGATIVE - the seats don’t truly recline. Like they are old and it’s not even worth putting your feet up but everything else is pretty good. I’ll ding half a star for that.
This is is downtown Los Angeles and you can find parking and get registered in the Alamo Draft House. The place is pretty cool, we visited to watch 28 Years Later. We walked into the auditorium and the first thing I noticed is how terrible all the seating and arm/headrests al looked. This stuff should've been replayed YEARS ago yet it's still being used. Seeing locations that charge the customer a premium but don't maintain the atmosphere always blow my mind. Anyways, the we ordered chicken nuggets and a double cheese burger. The burger meat was dry and cheap quality, noticeably cheap. But naturally the burger is 🍔 $20+. I don't mind laying a premium, but provide me the same in return Alamo Draft House. The server Chris was phenomenal and very attentive and friendly, people like him need to promoted. Overall, fun experience but it cost me about $150 total.
I’m a movie pass holder and it has been good value. Solid movie-going experience. The food is expensive, but has always been pretty good. However, they recently changed their recipes and now it’s literally inedible garbage. I’d rather eat dirt, and I’d pay more for it too. I’m a customer from Austin TX, so I’ve been to Alamo many times back from its early days until now and it’s been a good vibe for a long time. I also know good Tex-mex queso being from Texas. This is literally just melted velveeta with onions thrown in. It was a much smaller amount than it used to be too for the same expensive price. It was also served to us cold so they gave us a replacement and they didn’t even try with putting the toppings in the replacement. I actually got robbed, they stole my money and tried to feed me poison. I did eat some of it so hopefully I don’t keel over in my sleep tonight: guess we’ll see. If they don’t go back to their old queso recipe (which was the single BEST tex-mex queso in all of LA) I will promptly cancel my membership and never return. Will take my business to regal instead. Their food is not great but is much cheaper and actually edible. (For reference I paid over $80 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks).
