If you are looking for a modern upgrade you are going to be greatly disappointed... This place feel a little haunted yet full of classic charm. Back in the day this was my after party party hang out. Everynow and then I come and stay for the night... Reminiscing good old day when we used to be so young and full of life. The drinks here is very strong. Service is good. The old smell though made me wants to start smoking again. Unforgettable Chateau marmont vibe.
Due to its reputation, I've had this hotel on my radar for years, so when we were back in LA I booked our first night here.|Having travelled from the UK, we were tired when we arrived, but received a warm welcome from all the staff.|We were shown to our room on the floor above reception. It was the cheapest room and was a decent size. |The bathroom was very dated, I think they would call it shabby chic.|There was a really good complimentary snack bar, plus a book on the hotel to take away.|We weren't hungry, so went down to the bar for drinks, after being shown the pool area. We were given a great spot in the bar to do a bit of people watching.|We slept reasonably well, but woke up a bit early due to jet lag.|We had breakfast in the hotel and took the opportunity to wander around the pool/bungalow area. Very nice.|It was too chilly to make use of the pool area, which is a shame as they extended our check out time.|On check out the extras (bar, breakfast, parking, garden fees & taxes) were pretty substantial, but you only live once.|We've done it now, ticked it off, wouldn't go back and not do it, but I doubt that we will go back again as we prefer absolute luxury to shabby chic.
Service was not what I expect from a high end restaurant. The food was good, presentation, not so great on the 2 fish dishes we got. The inside is truly beautiful. Dary and mysterious but also very cozy. We were there for lunch, but I would love to see it at night. I truly enjoyed the history here.
from the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly staff that set the tone for the rest of the evening Chef Ozzie came out and told us that our meals were going to be taking care of that. We would not have to choose anything he gave us an experience on one of our most sacred nights our anniversary that I will never forget the food was phenomenal. It was coursed out appropriately. The service was phenomenal. I can’t praise this place enough never given a six star, but if I did, it would be for this place.
No need to overstate the obvious for those who know. I will say, however, that I am pleased the culture of the Chateau has almost completely reverted back to its better era. Staff are protective of your privacy, extremely accommodating, and overall will go to great lengths to ensure you are able to do you. Award season tends to get pretty chaotic, but the old ‘Castle on the Hill’ gives you a sense of peace that only it can. And what happens there stays there lol.
This is my third stay at Chateau Marmont & each visit surpasses the prior . However this was my first Christmas experience to enjoy the exceptional Beauty ! My visits are typically unplanned & spontaneous. I love the history & the location is pure L.A in all its glory . I rotate between the Marmont & The Beverly as I adore both equally. Location of both make them equally walkable to all things Hollywood . Mulhalland is beautiful , artsy & has such an intriguing legacy. So much to see , so much to do ! Yet the beauty of both properties & room/Cabana's make a day of lounging poolside equally enjoyable & completely beautiful ! .
D isappointing Experience Despite Nice Ambiance We had breakfast here — the food was okay but nothing special, and the prices felt totally unjustified. We were initially served tap water, but when it was refilled, they replaced it with Acqua Panna without asking and charged us over $13 for it. The ambiance was pleasant, and the outdoor seating area with heaters was a nice touch, but overall, the experience didn’t live up to the cost.
