The Brave Bull

When I say hidden treasure I mean exactly that… For years I’ve heard of the Brave Bull, but never had courage to go in alone until this last night. And I’m so happy I did! I’ve passed by it a million times and based on the location I assumed it was just another run down dive bar, but as soon as I walked in I realized that was NOT the case. An ENORMOUS disco ball, colorful lights and decor was just an accessory to the incredible bartenders that lit the place up with their energy. I’ve never been to a place and felt like one of the regulars immediately… They really do a great job of making you feel at home… I got to meet the owner who educated me on how he opened the bar 51 YEARS AGO!! The sweetest bartender made my drinks promptly even though they were crowded and the female bartender gave me some advice on raising cattle (if I ever choose to do so lol). There was an amazing drag show and local art vendors 10/10… I’ve been to other gay bars in the area and I can honestly say this has already become the one I’ll gladly drive an hour to visit. Thank you to the staff for keeping old school bar culture alive!

We came here on our anniversary and had the most amazing time. The staff was so friendly, shared the history of the place, and made us feel like family immediately. We were just passing through town but I hope to come back again soon!

Went with some coworkers after a long serving shift and honestly the staff were immaculate! When I say service with a smile is an understatement!? One of the bartenders said they didn’t do it for the money, and I believe it! Just found out today they’ve been open 50 years and there’s no wonder why! I can’t wait for the next drag show

The best unknown bar in Modesto. Don’t be thrown by the neighborhood. It’s a classic. Drag on Sunday nights is not to be missed!!
