Small bar but great atmosphere! Historic oldest bar in america! So you have to stop by for a drink. Often will see horse and buggy going by. At night the piano bar is alive!
Missed this place on our last trip so had to do it on this one and glad we did. What a super cool bar, great vibe, bartenders were great, very nice and talkative, fixed great drinks and bought a super cool t shirt. We even thought we saw Jeff Bridges, "The Dude" but he said he wasn't him lol. Will definitely go back every time we are in Nola.
Amazing little pub towards the end of Bourbon St. One of the oldest pubs in the US too. Very chill vibe and great prices on drinks!! Definitely check them out!!
Known for being the oldest bar in American History. The place is certainly rustic. The service was quick, however the Hurricane wasn't great at all. The live music was great. The atmosphere gave mysterious as the space is dimly lit.
We saw the voodoo daiquiri (purple drank) in an article of must tries so when we were visiting we decided to give them a try. It didn't disappoint, we aren't big drinkers so they were strong tasting but they were well worth it. We also tried their hurricanes as we were told they were better than the originals. They were good! Not as sweet as the others.
We did not purchase any food. We were told about this place and just had to see what it was all about. Very cool vibe.
Stepping into Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar feels like walking into a piece of real New Orleans history — one of the oldest buildings in the city and a bar that wraps you in stories from centuries past. The dim candlelight, exposed brick, and that historic vibe make it unlike any other bar on Bourbon Street; it’s cozy, slightly mysterious, and full of character that’s hard to forget. The drinks here are fun and classic — from frozen daiquiris like the iconic Voodoo Daiquiri to cold beers that hit just right as you settle into the atmosphere. There’s often live piano or music in the back room, creating an easygoing, sing-along energy that makes the place feel alive without being overwhelming. What I personally love most about Lafitte’s is the blend of history and local nightlife. It’s not polished or trendy — it leans into its age and stories, which gives the whole experience a soulful, New Orleans-specific charm. Whether you’re sipping a cocktail in the candlelit interior or enjoying the courtyard space outside, it’s a bar experience that feels unique, storied, and genuinely fun.
