Club Pittsburgh

Not a safe space. They don’t respond to phone calls or emails if you have questions. We literally booked an entire vacation to Pittsburgh based on the fact that they allow women in. Tried to verify. No response. Just another space that’s made for men. I’m just so tired of misogyny in queer "safe" places.

It's...unique. One of a kind. I've been a couple times for Hot Mass (back when it was here) and just to say I've been more or less. You'll see stuff, hear stuff and probably smell stuff. But if you're thinking of going here, you already know what it's about and what you're expecting out of it so y'know. Sometimes there's some real creepy people here who aren't the greatest with boundaries but I've never had any serious issues, and the staff does take that sort of thing seriously from my understanding.

I went there the other day with a friend paid in entered, got my locker and waited for my friend. However, he got into an argument with the receptionist and was Asked to leave because of that I also had to leave because my friend lived out of town and when I emailed management to get a refund because I was not able to get what I paid for and had to leave immediately within five minutes of entering the building, I was denied a refund because of this I no longer feel. I will be attending this facility and there’s no use to me. also, the amount of drugs that goes through that facility like a hot mass is ridiculous. That place is not safe nor comfortable to be at.

I feel this place is limited by its location in a historic building, but it does make it feel rather cozy. The hot tub is so small it might as well not be there. Upstairs playroom is great, but the bottom one has a poor layout and was usually dead. Theres a lot of long staircases between floors, so watch your step. Plenty of items to purchase at the front area. The staff were awesome on the night we visited. Apparently there’s a dance club on the lowest level I missed out on, along with a rooftop lounge. Best part of the visit was the fun times with local members.

Really not my cup of tea, I had reservations about going in once I found out it was coed but I’d already Ubered there and had nothing else planned for my overnight other then hanging out in my hotel room so I thought what the hell. If you’re expecting this to be like Club: Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Indianapolis, Dallas… you will be severely disappointed. Despite its name Club PIT is not affiliated with the Club franchise. I found this out when I started to buy an 6 month membership and was told that it was only good at Club PIT, and that it is coed. I attended on a night when there was an event on the second floor, and the attendees were given access too the bathhouse portion as well, this making it overrun with naked women, furries, drag queens. It really killed the vibe! While trying to get down to business you have a coffee clutch in the hallway or the dungeon Kiking it up. Everyone was friendly and I’m glad I had the experience but it really killed the cruising. I’m truly happy that it’s there for the community but it’s a one & done for me!

Despite all the negative reviews of the staff, the ones I encountered, at least on the night I visited, were friendly and helpful and welcoming. The facilities are clean. My biggest complaint is that the club should have a no shoe policy in the play areas and enforce them. The problem is when most people are barefoot, getting stepped on by shoes can be very painful. And there was even a guy fully clothed in the play areas when there were signs clearly stating that you can't be in street clothes.

I'll be blunt. I'm not sure what Club Pittsburgh is trying to be (bathhouse, dance club, or otherwise) but integrating both the downstairs after-party area on the 2nd floor with the rest of the building is really compromising the "bathhouse energy" (lack of a better term) that you get from other bathhouses around the country. If you are a cis gay man trying get laid in a gay bathhouse setting, this place will not provide it. It was hard enough when one had to compete with other cis gay men (muscled, twink, and/or young) but now you have to compete with cis & TS women while getting gawked at by the same women on a typical Friday/Saturday. It doesn't help when one hears "OH MY GOD!" from a random Becky who can't control her reactions when people are trying to get laid in the 3rd floor darkroom one minute while hearing full blown conversations the next minute. You know that feeling when a gay bar gets catered and dominated by bachelorette parties which then completely ruins the vibes of the gay bar? That is what Club Pittsburgh is going through right now. It's like if you went to Steamworks in Chicago or NY Eagle while knee deep in men and all of a sudden a gaggle of women (and their sassy gay best friend) shows up laughing and pointing at you because they never seen people getting laid before. It's that feeling. The old days of the bathhouse is dead here replaced by whatever I saw during my last couple of visits. Trust me when I say you'll have a better time going to the surrounding male-dominated campgrounds (Freedom Valley, Camp Davis, Circle JJ Ranch) than Club Pittsburgh. And for the sake of balance so I'm not a complete Negative Nancy, the staff has always treated me nice, I'm glad the steam room is working again, their gym is quite clean, and the 5th floor does have a nice view. Sadly, the old Club Pittsburgh of years past is dead.
