The Boxing Donkey Irish Pub & Restaurant

I had a memory of my parents taking me here when I was younger for their captain toast french toast. It was the best, sweetest, and stickiest french toast that I have ever had. Many years later, I became a parent and moved back to Sacramento. I brought my husband and kids there one day when it wasn't busy and ordered a round of their burgers for each person. To quote my kids: "This is the best burger I have ever had.", "This must be what a krabby patty taste like, like heaven", and the other children didn't want to speak because he was too busy eating and didn't want to stop to talk! The staff is so friendly and full of humor. We were able to just hang out in the back room, watch tv, and chill on the couch eating good food. It was a afternoon to remember and can't wait to return! Wish they were open more days and hours.

My husband and I LOVED this place. Joe and Kendl are fantastic. The food was super good - the Irish eggs rolls were incredible and the fish and chips were some of the best I’ve ever had. They even gave us a free sample of the clam chowder which was also superb. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and great food. We will definitely make this a part of our regular rotation!

This is a fun place where the staff are welcoming and the food is delicious, with a bonus of a great drink selection. I've had about four or five meals here, always something different than the last one, and every time an amazing flavor profile, leaving me satisfied and full. My last meal was the tropical fish tacos, and holy moley, what an incredible taco.... like drop the mic incredible. These are by far my favorite fish tacos yet. The flavors, the textures, were just 🤯. Paired with a great black and tan beer, and I believe my eyes actually rolled back in my head on the first bite. I'm definitely going back for more of those.

The box and donkey has amazing food and drinks live concerts. Great service, good vibes. Their Fish and Chips and clam chowder are amazing, not to mention other things on their menu like the Brussels sprout salad.. This place is great for party's and gatherings! Be aware this establishment does not do DoorDash, Grovenhub, or home delivery. This restaurant has cockroaches. I know this because I lived directly above the restaurant for about a year and it was a major problem in the entire building and had been for years and was even worse before. I could not turn my light off while I slept because the cock roaches would fill the floor. Like I said I lived directly literally right above the restaurant. I wouldn't eat at any of the restaurants in this building. I don't know how they pass health inspections because I know there restaurant is really full of cockroaches. I wish I had photos to prove it but I am being honest. I also ate here several times and the customer service is mediocre and it is extremely expensive.

All around pretty good, not great. Fun place to go for some beers and pretty good food. Service is a bit slow, but the staff are all very friendly and it's not a big deal of you're not in a rush.

Awesome food, beers, and atmosphere! We will definitely be back!
