Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Drinks: 4/5 Parking: 3/5 Price: 4/5 Visiting the greater Seattle and Tacoma area for a few days, so we stopped by The Old Hang Out on a Monday evening. Sean and Rose served us, and they were both so helpful and wonderful! Parking was convenient, but where we parked was paid (typical for the area). Price per cocktail is what you would expect (I think about $16/each). I definitely would recommend swinging by this tiki-meets-adventure style bar and try a cocktail like the Voodoo Brew!
We had some drinks at the tiki bar and stayed at the hotel. The drinks were great. The hotel staff and bartender were hospitable and nice. Very efficient at there jobs. The room was spacious. The king bed was very comfortable and the shower had great hot water pressure.we recommend trying the bars and staying a night.
One of my favorite local tiki bars. Excellent drinks from a very creative menu and delicious food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Tacoma area.
For the tiki aficionado this is as close to a Clifton’s of the north that we have so far. McMenamins really curated an exceptional exotic environment through a cabinet of curiosities/anthropological adventurer lens. This is a place to pilgrimage for the environment.
Ordered to-go: Tokyo Tots and Ventura Nachos. Asked for cheese on the side. Got home and there was hair in the Tokyo Tots and no cheese for the nachos. Called to report it. Manager said the cheese was put on the side by her and then said staff "keep their hair short." The hair was short. No offer to remake or exchange. Being gaslit instead of helped was wild.
Horrible service. Save yourself from this place or from Tia whatever her name is (blonde bartender). Ordered a glass of wine was given a dirty glass, went personally to ask for a new glass, watched her grab a glass from the shelf, run it under water to get rid of any future issues I assume… proceeds to then pour wine right into the glass with still remnants of water in the glass and places it on counter directly in front of me without even a glimpse of a "you’re welcome" to my already embarrassed thank you for even having to ask for a clean glass, she then went on to make fun of me and tried to argue when the waitress asked it be removed from the bill… shame on that bartender. Seems she doesn’t like returning customers. The waitress on the other hand was the sweetest girl ever.
Mediocre overpriced hotel food dressed up slightly. It all sounds much better than it is. Interesting cocktails with poor execution. Everything just tastes bland and cheap I'd be embarrassed to serve these chicken tenders to someone for nearly $18. I've had Tyson tenders from the freezer section that had more flavor. The place is quirky and the beer was decent but that's about it. It was a miss for me.
