S U P E R B Dinner & Service We walked into Prohibition on King Street in Charleston on a crisp fall Saturday night without a reservation and were able to be seated in the rear bar area at a high top table. We we lucky as the restaurant and three bars quickly filled up with a fun crowd. We were in the middle bar (walk-up bar service and ordering only) which worked out great with the very friendly professional bar tenders. We ordered some craft beers, a great Parmesan Caesar salad, and the highlight was the manager recommended Swordfish Saltimbocca (WOW delicious). The Swordfish steak was quite large and we split the entree. The hot flavorful seafood entree came with crispy Prosciutto, sage, spinach, and roasted buttermilk puree. It was so flavorful and delicious I told the manager I could have ordered another serving! Compliments to the numerous managers on duty ensuring the guests were happy, as well as the bartenders, and serving staff. Workers obviously like working at Prohibition. We will definitely return next Charleston visit. Cheers.

This restaurant has a cool vibe and some rather yummy food. Stopped here for lunch and sat on there back patio which was very nice and chill. Got the deviled eggs, wings, and chopped cheese burger. The eggs were fantastic and highly recommend this. The wings were decent and the chopped cheese had some great flavors. The drink menu was good and had plenty of cool mixed options. The bartender made a nice expresso martini. Service was friendly, but slow, and hectic. We got our entree before our appetizer and the wings came with the check. Overall, id definitely recommend.

Had Sunday Brunch. Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was awesome! 1st food: great portions and awesome flavor. They made our granddaughter a very special drink. The band playing played a wide variety of music and made brunch that much better. Haley was our server, super awesome. Thank you to Chris as well for making our experience great!

We had a great dining experience. , Our server, was very professional and attentive. Since we made an early reservation, we were seated immediately without any wait. The food was tasty and well-prepared. Our waitress was super sweet, got champagne and macaroons to make my daughters birthday special. We had a great time and experience. Thank you

Old Fashioned has a suave peach twist and the Margarita Fuego was EXCELLENT: Blanco tequila, lime, Cointreau, chipotle, mango, and jalapeno - not too spicy and the mango to help curb the zip. This place is packed. We had to gravitate to the back patio bar. My main qualm was waiting over 10 minutes to order while sitting at the bar. Bachelorette parties standing over my shoulder kept getting the go ahead to order. I was about to leave had I been skipped over one more time. Also, with the name Prohibition I was expecting more 30's speakeasy aesthetics and decor... but it felt more like the stereotypical modern rustic craft cocktail bar. Not worth frequenting if that's your selling point in question. Overall, decent cocktails, some with a minor twist. The place seemed like it sponsored bachelorette parties with the amount of coordinated costumes & celebratory groups in there. Must be a prime spot to go out with your friends, not as much for an intimate outing.

My friends and partner and I went to Prohibition this past Saturday. It was pouring rain so while parking across the street was the most desirable option- it WAS close and convenient. Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted and told that there was only outdoor seating available unless we wanted to wait a little while so we opted for the patio. It was covered so that was good. The reason I gave a 4 star rating is because I thought the manager could have opted to turn on a couple heaters being that it was a bit chilly with it raining and the wind was blowing a bit. Luckily we had jackets so that helped. On to the dining experience- this place has several small plate options which I’m not always crazy about due to portion sizes but the items were ordered were sufficient and we were all able to share with each other. My partner got the tomato bisque soup w/ grilled cheese and while it’s such a simple option- it was perfect and exactly what she needed to warm her up a bit. The soup was creamy and rich and the grilled cheese was crust less and had a good cheese pull. My only complaint would be that the grilled cheese could have been a little bigger. I ordered the brussel sprouts which were great. They were nice and crispy and flavorful. One of my friends ordered the baked oysters- my issue with this dish is that it only came w/ 3 and they weren’t that big- also, I never understood why restaurants don’t do appetizers like that in even numbers. The oysters were cooked perfectly and tasted great and they had a good creaminess from the cheese. The MVP of the night was the bone marrow- I had never had it before and was very hesitant to try it…until I saw it. I tried it and it was amazing! So good in fact that we ordered a 2nd order. The bone marrow was like a rich butter and the meat (I think was brisket?) that topped it was amazing as well- it was sweet and savory. We had 3 old fashioned cocktails and an espresso martini w/ an added shot of baileys which was fantastic! We’ll be back again for sure!

*update on bottom* I was excited to visit Prohibition because I heard it had a good vibe! This was the third stop on our DIY Cocktail Crawl. There are 3 bar areas that go straight back, one is through their kitchen window. This skinny style flow makes for a bit of a crowded walk. Since the first bar was packed, we went all the way to the back patio bar. We waited a little and when we were ready to order, discovered the outside bar doesn't serve most of the cocktails on the menu we had been looking at. Went into the middle bar, and while it was packed, we were able to get our orders in before heading all the way back into the front to sit. Sheesh! I ordered the Schrute Sour. Y'all. I don't know why I did this. I don't like beets! Since it was a beet vodka and that the drink also contained rosemary, I thought the beet might be subtle. It's not. NOT. AT. ALL. It was the only thing I tasted in my drink. Thankfully, my friend switched with me.. She had... Carolina Wren: This was very honey forward and a welcomed change from my previous drink. Definitely sweeter but not overly so. Hubby had the Castle Sour. He didn't like it, but I did! I felt the Jameson and vanilla were married nicely in the drink. I couldn't taste the clove and didn't miss it anyway. Overall, the cocktails were a splurge for us at $16/pop. I was a bit disappointed in them along with the ordering situation, so not sure we would go back to terribly soon. It DID have a really nice bathroom though! *12/20/25 update* We stopped in for the "Sippin' Santa" event and it was definitely all decked out! This is worth the stop just for a few good pics, if nothing else! I had the Holiday on Ice and really enjoyed it! The flavors blend well and it's not as spicy as you'd think. Hubby had the Sippin' Santa and even though rum isn't his thing, the drink was good! Overpriced, but good! It did make for some pretty cute pics. We were sad to find out they were sold out of the mugs, so we couldn't buy this guy. ️ We ordered the cheese ball and the pork sliders for a little snack and were extremely underwhelmed. I didn't get any pineapple in my cheese and the ball was tiny. The sliders were salty and lacking in actual flavor. I can't recommend either of these snacks. In conclusion, come in for the atmosphere, but that's about it unless you wanna dish out a pretty penny for a fancy cocktail.
