Residence Inn by Marriott Des Moines Downtown

Everything about this place was magical! I think her name was maddy at front desk, shes a gem!! Love her, they also have a jacuzzi they keep open later for adults, they have a fire pit in back you can sit at, just a great all around hotel. Only complaint is me and my guest came down for the fire at night and they man at the desk was doing weird stuff on his phone and lets just say he shouldnt be doing that at work.. made us very uncomfortable... Other then that interaction.. it was perfection!

Terrible experience with canceling of room for a weekend stay. Winter storm came in and was not able to make it coming from Minnesota. Called Thursday and we're told it would be taken care of. Friday had to call again and now today Sunday I receive an email with a receipt for my stay and have been charged for both nights. 3 different staff members I have talked to now and not a one has done anything right. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bedsheets felt damp. Room was very humid. I visited twice, about a month in between, and this was the case both times. I happened to overhear another guest talking about the unusually high room humidity. It's hard to ignore that issue, because it makes it harder to sleep. But if I ignore that issue, it's otherwise a very nice hotel. Free breakfast! Very nice selection of fresh foods. Employees are very nice. One came to help us when we had some elevator trouble.

This Marriot has a free breakfast, which is great. Street parking is free overnight and seems safe. The rooms are pretty run down. My thermostat was broken and it was 56 degrees in my room all night even with the heat on. Quiet hotel. Not a terrible experience, but not the consistent quality expected of a Marriott.

Raniya is the absolute kindest employee. She has compassion and integrity that went beyond the front desk. Rooms are comfortable and the third floor was quiet.

My wife and I just spent 4 nights here. We’ve stayed here several times because we like the location and the suites. Those are big advantages but the hotel is somewhat going downhill. I would rate it a 3 ½ if I could.||The biggest disappointment on this trip was the breakfast. Their breakfast used to be a notch or two above your average hotel breakfast. It was very average during this stay. You can no longer make breakfast tacos because there are no shells or shredded cheese. They also got rid of the cut fruit and only offer a limited selection of whole fruit. Little touches like smiley faces on the bananas are also gone. I’m guessing that the woman who used to manage the breakfast has left.||Rooms are only cleaned every other day. That’s a Marriott policy but I don’t like it.||Our room was the farthest from the elevator - #235. The long walk got annoying fast. Try to get a lower number room if possible.||Our room was generally in good condition. The door between the living room and the bed was warped, though, so you practically had to slam it to shut it. This undercut the benefit of the suite as I wake up before my wife and usually watch tv in the living room with the door shut.||Parking is convenient but you should check-in before parking. If not, you’ll have walk around the building to get in. With a room key you can walk in to the hotel directly from the garage.||I might stay here again but I’ll definitely be looking at other options.

Best hotel downtown, accommodations for groups with a great indoor pool and outdoor grill and basketball court. Staff was incredibly friendly and breakfast was consistently amazing our whole stay. Close to the river walk, capital building, and Iowa cubs. Clean, great service and great location.
