Great vibe, really happy to have a beer at the bar. Enjoyed music videos. Very reasonable drink prices. Glad this place is here. <3
My husband and I didn't eat here but we stopped by for a few drinks before a dinner reservation and had a very pleasant chat with the bartender. He was very nice. Made me wish for a local bar in Detroit with a similar homey vibe. I'd go here regularly if it was my neighborhood bar, and all I had was coffee. Service was great! Atmosphere fantastic!
**Disappointed by Newest Ownership, Not the Staff** Apartment Lounge has long been a cherished LGBTQ-friendly bar in our community. I’ve been visiting since the 1980s and always appreciated its welcoming atmosphere and supportive ownership. Sadly, that spirit seems to have shifted under the new owner. While I don’t frequent the bar often, my partner and I have made it a tradition to stop in for a cocktail after dinner. Unfortunately, our last two visits were marred by uncomfortable interactions with the current owner. On both occasions, I was accused of putting my feet on the newly upholstered booth cushions—something I did not do. My legs were stretched out across the seat, but my feet were clearly hanging over the edge, not touching the cushions. Despite calmly explaining this, the owner insisted otherwise and even had the bartender—who knows us and clearly seemed uncomfortable—repeat the request. Being told twice not to do something I wasn’t doing felt unnecessary and accusatory. On our most recent visit, I asked to speak with the owner directly to clarify, but he refused to come over and instead had the bartender cash us out. When I approached him to express my frustration, he doubled down, claiming I was "rubbing [my feet] all over the cushion," which was simply untrue. It’s worth noting that he also reprimanded other patrons nearby for similar behavior, and frequently mentions the cost of reupholstering his booths—something he’s only able to afford thanks to loyal customers. To be clear, this review reflects the poor customer service and dismissive attitude of the current owner. The bartenders and staff remain friendly, professional, and welcoming. Sadly, the overall experience has changed, and I’m not alone—other one-star reviews echo similar encounters.
Awesome dive bar in GR. Matty was our server and he was seriously one of the best waiters my husband and I have ever had. Little dark inside, don’t remember seeing windows, but plenty of seating at the bar and tables. They had great drinks and drink prices. Pull tabs too! We will definitely return
Heather has the patience of a goddess. We had an awesome night seeing the Matt Rife show and finished it here. Heather kept the drinks up, dealt with our probably stupid drunk humor, and was so helpful when cleaning a couple of spilled drinks. She was awesome and I am so grateful.
Mike was the first person who greeted me upon my first time here, he made me feel welcome and is very good at his job. He is the multitask master! Mack is also an honorable mention for being so sweet and kind, as well as good at what they do! This place has started to grow on me because of the service and overall fun atmosphere. Everyone here is great!
So autumn was our server, and I came in DRUNK.. I couldn’t even believe how drunk I was actuallly and she would not serve me. No matter what. She brought me water and snacks and even after o was feeling better I asked for an Tito’s and water and she still would not serve me. I’m so thankful because if I would’ve been served alcohol I would’ve not been doing well. So I’m absolutely in love with her service and thankful someone so aware is working here. Thank you. <3
