The Basement Bar is such a Fort Worth gem! It’s one of those places you could totally walk right past if you’re not paying attention — but once you find it, you’ll want to stay awhile. It’s got that laid-back Cowtown charm, great music, fun décor, and the kind of friendly vibe that makes you feel like a local right away. The $5 wells during happy hour don’t hurt either! A cozy little hideaway that’s perfect for kicking back with friends and soaking up the Fort Worth energy.

I was here this past Saturday. In the past I have enjoyed this bar, however there’s was a cruel, attention-seeking woman who was literally throwing her duck around on stage. I realize that sounds insane, and it’s because it very well is. This woman was permitted by bar staff to bring a duck into the bar in a stroller. She proceeded to "dance" with the duck by throwing it around song after song, next to very loud speakers and on the stage. The duck was clearly under stress and it was a wholly abusive thing to watch. I tried talking with bar staff who informed me that she’s there doing this "basically every weekend"… not sure how any business would want to stand for this behavior of ABUSE towards animals, much less permit her to use their stage for doing so. I ended up leaving the bar shortly after watching this woman repeatedly abuse this animal as it was sickening to watch. I also approached the door staff/Fort Worth PD at the door and asked if they would do anything as it was very obviously abuse. The officer essentially said "it’s just a duck" making him complicit in the abuse as he would’ve been standing there all night watching this woman. I wish I would’ve taken a video but I was honestly too disgusted. But if you were there this Saturday I’m sure you witnessed this abusive and self-interested woman’s actions.

Cool venue. The stairs leading down into and out of the bar are a bit difficult for an old man, but was well worth it to see Guthrie Kennard!

If you like it dark, packed and full of money and fun. Look no further! The basement bar is fun, full of energy and a bit dingy. Like the local dive bar with some flare! We loved it!

I have an amazing group of friends who experienced the most obvious racism that I never have thought was real. We were a group of 7 people from all backgrounds. One of our Indian friends was two stepping with our red headed friend. We looked up and they were being kicked out. We all rushed to the them and they said the bouncer kicked him out because he was "too dark". We were being respectful in the corner and were paying customers. This racism ruined our night and I will forever not believe in the stock yards. DO NOT COME TO THIS BAR IF YOUR GROUP HAS AN OUNCE OF DIVERSITY OR ARE "DIFFERENT".

Besides being a bit of a death trap this is a pretty fun dive bar. Dollar bills cost the ceiling and people are friendly. The door man was friendly and funny. The bartender said "thats not my problem" when I explained someone took my drink, so that wasn't nice but short of that fun place to go dance and hang out.

Loved this little dive bar. Visited right at opening while I was at the Stockyards. Opened up dead on time - thank God as my time was pressed. Enjoyed a cold Corona. Friendly bartender and just a neat little place. Would LOVE to go there again when I had more time to spend!
