The Strathallan is a lovely hotel right in downtown Rochester with free parking. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We loved the balcony. The bed was especially comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed and supplied with everything we needed. ||The price was remarkably good for such a lovely hotel. || The staff were all friendly and competent. I want to commend all the staff who took such good care of us, but especially Tim, who helped me straighten out a reservation snafu when the main Hilton reservation line was both incompetent and unhelpful. ||The restaurant, Char, is pricey but the food is wonderful and the service was efficient and attentive.

The location is excellent. Right in the heart of the artsy part of Rochester. The customer service is wonderful. You can tell folks working here enjoy it. Amanda, the event coordinator, is incredibly helpful and friendly. She made sure our event went smoothly and all our needs were met. Ryan at the front desk is great too! Awesome Team!

Recently, my daughter was married, and the reception was held at the Strathallan Hotel. The entire day was flawless. The event coordinator, Adam, was exceptional throughout the planning process and equally impressive on the day of the wedding. He is highly organized and thorough. We were never concerned about anything, knowing that Adam was taking care of it. Entering the ballroom was breathtaking; it provided a stunning backdrop for a New Year’s Eve wedding. The dinner was exquisite—the strip steak and sea bass were divine, and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the open bar and the accommodating bartenders throughout the evening. The entire Strathallan staff, from the beginning of the day until the last minute of the wedding, was spectacular. It was an unforgettable day for not only my daughter and her husband but also for all our guests who had the convenience of staying at the hotel. I highly recommend the Strathallan for its impeccable service and beautiful venue.

We had a great stay in a comfortable suite. The hotel is updating the interior, but it didn't impact us much. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly. We had breakfast in the onsite restaurant, Char, and the coffee was great (which can be unusual for hotel coffee), and the food was yummy. I have zero complaints and I will definitely stay again in the future. I look forward to seeing what it looks like after the improvements are done.

Very pleasant and unique hotel set downtown in the middle of a quaint neighborhood. Great restaurant, food, and service. Rooms were clean with little details like some mouthwash! Very busy with some conferences being held. Some renovations currently ongoing but nothing disruptive. Even the workers were polite. Hope to be back.

We stayed three nights here, first night eating a small meal outside by the fire pit. Hotel was crowded out with people at events/weddings etc on site so it was hard to squeeze our way through the bar to beg to be allowed to sit outside to eat (not busy outside but a warm evening). Final night we ate in the restaurant, being told by local friends that it had an excellent reputation. Unbelievably (to us Brits) four different people came to our table to introduce themselves and to tell us that they were looking after us that evening. One brought a menu and we then never saw any of them again as quite different people brought our food & drinks. It seemed to us that everyone was after a share of our hopefully large tip. The best was the cocktail waitress who was clearly interested in what we were up to in Rochester and asked us the next day how it had gone - delightful and earned her tip! We waited ages for our totally delicious steaks, which turned up with sauces we had not requested (as we were not asked if we wanted sauces or which ones) - husband likes his steaks with no sauce and I prefer something different, which in fairness was changed. They were in little jugs on the side, not on the main plate.||Breakfast was OK. Seemed like a rather limited, standard menu with no fresh fruit. I inquired and was told fruit salad was available which was very nice. Why not on the menu?||Room was lovely. Large, clean, comfortable and quiet. Everything worked fine. Hotel was really nice and I would certainly stay there again, but it was pricey.

There are no higher-end offerings in Rochester and this is probably among the best options. But don’t get too excited. We hold Gold Hilton status (second highest) which was not acknowledged during check-in and apparently didn’t matter at all in terms of the reservation benefits. ||On the plus side, the room was spacious and very clean (Housekeepers deserve recognition for their thoroughness and attention to detail), had an enormous tv, a desk with Aeron-type chair, a small empty fridge, ample electrical outlets for charging devices, and a microwave. The bed was comfortable and the windows had effective blackout shades. The temperature was easy to control. The restaurant in the lobby is good for a late dinner or breakfast if needed. ||Negatives: don’t expect many amenities—even basic ones. For example, no q-tips in bathroom, no coffee maker, no nightlight in bathroom. The shower door seemed designed to allow a significant amount of water to escape the shower onto the bathroom floor making a small mess. The bar of hand soap at the sink was the size of an SD card and had the feel of a chunk of wax that begrudgingly released some suds if you rubbed it a long time. Noise from events travels freely through the walls (we were on 6th floor) but fortunately did end by 1030pm. Signs of wear were seen in many places like on the chipped sink faucet, door frames, doors, and stained furniture (like the Arron-type chair mentioned above).||A special mention to thank Shelly at the hotel restaurant who should be the Hilton brand ambassador of the month! When Shelly heard we had encountered some small issues at the hotel that had nothing to do with the restaurant, she not only resolved the glitches, but fixed them in a way that left us delighted and glad we had chosen Hilton Doubletree for our stay. ||If traveling to Rochester, we would choose to stay here again.
