Tipsy Turtle is your ideal kickoff bar in Northgate. Tucked in at 113 Boyett Street, this cozy shot bar may be small, but it brings big energy—especially when it comes to their legendary pickle shots and strong frozen drink game. I’d recommend lining up 2–3 shots to get the night rolling—think of it like scooping your favorite ice cream flavors—and from there, you’re perfectly primed to explore the rest of the district. Beyond shots, the menu surprises you: expertly crafted cocktails, a handful of frozen drinks, and even a selection of beers if you want to mix things up. The hours (Tuesday through Saturday, around 8 PM to 2 AM) make it a great launching point for a lively evening out. The bartenders are usually a fun crew that add to the upbeat vibe, though some guests have noted occasional service hiccups. Overall, for low-key thrills and fast fun, Tipsy Turtle is a solid first stop.

I LOVEEE this place so much. However, last night on a Thursday me and 6 of my girlfriends felt like the bouncer was so rude and disrespectful. He kept feeling like a big man and was rude to my friends and you can tell he’s new too. I love tipsy but they need to get a new bouncer or something cause i’ve never had an experience like this. I love the pickle shots, but no shots worth a rude environment.

To the gentleman behind the bar that was on a power trip and acted like a 6 year old girl on 11/08/24 at 11:15pm, all of your co workers were laughing at you due to your extreme childish behavior and unprofessionalism. You yelling at everyone "I can stare too" because we were looking at you because of your temper tantrum you threw was hilarious. Yelling at us saying "im sure you voted for Kamala" and "I know he’s gay" was very immature and then going behind the bar and throwing your towel was insane. You are a liability for that company. We understand my friend was in the wrong and he was leaving but your behavior after everything, I’ve never seen an adult act that way.

Almost 2 and a half hours after we got in, we got the first part of our order. 2 1/2 hours!!! Of which more than 1 hour on the sun forming in line. One girl, Shelby, running around doing everything on her own, another 3 observing. I kept thinking that they will open another register, that someone is gonna start helping her with making the drinks, and NOpe! Great location but I would never ever come back here. Will gladly drive back to Houston for drinks and food, but never again here. And food is not that good anyway. Stay away from here if you want to enjoy your day off.

even tho summer school ended regular classes were about to start. TIPSY TURTLE was a very nice and pleasurable shot bar. very down to earth. excellent service. all in all very nice place. only down fall was that I wasnt to fond of a certain shot that apparently was a top shot there at the bar. it had something to do with pickle juice and Bacardi.

Nice bartenders, willing to show you fun shots/cocktails they're working on when it's slow, pickle shots are a must if you go there, & you can even buy Tipsy Turtle shirts there! Only downside is that it is a small bar so I wouldn't suggest staying longer than the time it takes you to down a shot or two.
