I had a really disappointing experience at this salon. It started with my first haircut — I specifically told them not to cut my bangs, but they cut them very short anyway. My hair is thin in the front, and I’ve been extremely uncomfortable ever since, having to wear a hat all the time. The manager initially told me they would find a solution, but nothing was done. After 2–3 weeks, I returned for extensions. I wasn’t informed beforehand that glue would be applied, and the results were very bad: the extensions looked messy, started falling out, and the glue got stuck in my hair for days. When I reached out about the damage, I was told there was nothing they could do, and the manager blamed my natural hair instead of taking responsibility. Since then, I haven’t heard back from them at all. My hairline is now damaged, and I have photos to show the condition of my hair. Overall, I would not recommend this salon due to poor communication, lack of care, and unprofessional handling of my hair and concerns.

I had the opportunity to spend a few hours today at The Hideout while my kids got their hair done. Lily and Marcos did great work. It’s a great spot, very eclectic, diverse and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

I have had my hair done multiple times here with good results. I brought my wife here to have her hair done, it was a Christmas gift but after the holidays. Her 3 hour appointment started 40 minuets late and lasted an hour longer than it should have. She asked for all over color and received highlights, not even close to the color requested. The stylist even needed help blow drying my wife’s hair once the color was finally done. Your website should offer some info if the stylist you are booking with is brand new to the industry. She came out with her hair just blow with a hair dryer, and looked worse than what she does herself. She got in the car and put her hair up and a hat on and started crying. This is not the experience I had there in my few previous visits however this hits worse for me. I tried to bring a new client and felt like an idiot she had such a bad experience. Just to update, we were contacted and her hair was corrected the very next week. That experience was completely different and she left feeling so much happier. Thank you to all the staff involved in this new experience!

So sad that my hair was completely butchered. I was growing it out and not only did she cut it SO short but I think a blind person could’ve cut it more evenly. Can’t even get it fixed because it would have to be cut even shorter. I think they use the "vibe" of this place to excuse bad work

I visited this salon a few times for bang trims and hair coloring. Unfortunately, the quality was awful. On my last visit, the stylist simply wasn't paying attention and cut my bangs much too short. The coloring process was also a disaster; I was told to rinse my hair in cold water for 30 minutes, and they didn't bother to prevent the dye from staining my neck, which took 3 weeks to come off. I'm always enthusiastic about supporting queer businesses, but their skills are disappointingly lackluster, especially considering their prices. I have moved to NYC ever since, and I can say that even Manhattan salons offer better service for way less money.

I blindly booked my first appointment here due to the salon proximity to my house and the inclusive branding of the business - I've been getting regular hair cuts with Ash since! I'm a bit more of a low maintenance gal when it comes to my hair. Because of this, sometimes it makes me feel a bit pressured at a salon to put more time into styling my hair in a time consuming way in daily life. I definitely do not feel this way at the Hideout. Ash is not only very skilled at styling but also an excellent listener with an easy going disposition. You can tell that she is very at ease and knows exactly what she's doing, which puts the person getting their hair cut at ease. She asks about my current lifestyle at appointments (I tour for work and often don't have much time/means to do anything complicated or time consuming with my hair...or I just am lazy sometimes lol) and factors this into styling. She recommended some great products that help keep my hair hydrated, and I can definitely see an improvement in my hair health. The deep condition treatment at the salon helps a ton. She also is incredibly stylish (FILAs FTW) and always has amazing hair colors! The overall salon is friendly, diverse, and cute. They have a great appointment "reminder/confirmation or reschedule" text system that is SO helpful. There is lots of natural light and plants all around, so the atmosphere is very relaxing. I would definitely recommend!
