Fox Island County Park

The Nature Center is excellent, and a great place to bring kids! There is an interactive tree with animals hiding in the roots, a reading area up the stairs, and an "observation deck" at the top with information and activities spread around. My toddler and I love it! Lots of posters and displays to check out, from fossils to pinecones to the local watershed. The front desk has information on the trails, and there is also a gift shop. Outside, even though the trails aren't all open yet, there is still plenty of walking for small children to do. There are also currently spring poems, pictures, and art along the trails, inviting you to pause your walk to appreciate nature. The picnic area, playground, and beaches by the lake are also nice to visit, and have a nice-sized parking lot and sidewalks leading to both picnic pavilions and the restroom. There is also a ramp leading down the beach, which may be for wheelchair users to get to the water (I did not see a sign to confirm this.)

So happy they were able to reopen. Poets in my Writer's Circle had our poems posted on the Art Poetry walk. Thanks for supporting the arts!

It's nice and peaceful but the beach is small imo. We didn't get to the trails though! Took my dogs to swim, and they had a nice time. Went on a Monday afternoon and was told the day before there were about 15 dogs playing on the doggie beach.

The dog park is the best, I wish it were a little bigger and a little more tidy, but there are picnic tables you can sit on, and lots of room to play. The park staff are a little rude every time we pay to enter, but since you only have to talk to them for a couple of minutes to enter the park it's whatever. 10/10, I love this place!

Went here to swim in the lake, and it was awesome!! The beach was the perfect size and there are plenty of picnic tables. Theres a restroom nearby as well as a little playground. The shallow area is buoyed off, which is nice for littles. My toddler loves running around chasing the minnows. For the price of admission into the park, and the fact that there's hiking trails too (although I haven't done those yet), it is beyond worth it. So excited to go back!

Beautiful trails. Muddy spots after a rain, especially in the marsh area, but that is to be expected of course! Great for hiking and mushroom hunting. Nature Center is a great place for families. Staff were helpful and kind.

Very enjoyable are with hiking trails and a nice waterfront beach area. While the trails are not well marked, they are well maintained. Google maps along with the trail map is essential to keep on track. The dunes trail has many old growth trees including Oaks and Black Walnut. It's like being on a tall ship with sails at full mast. The waterfront looks like an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon. Lots of sand and well marked swimming areas. The nature center requires a reservation to tour. Several exhibits to review. Out back, there is a large deck overlooking a quiet pond. A nice area to relax at.
