Charlestons Alley & Hidden Passages Tour

I went with a group of 8 on this tour. A friend booked for all of us on Viator so I am not able to leave a review there so I am doing it here. The tour was AMAZING. Our guide, Evans Byrd, was the most knowledgeable guide I have Ever had the privilege of being led by. He gave us a completely well balanced history of Charleston. The tour was interesting, beautiful and informative.

Lovely walking tour of historic downtown. Visited many of the usual sites but cutting through more small alleys and rights of way instead of walking only on major roads.

Captain Jim is a gem, extremely knowledgeable and makes talking Charleston history both interesting and entertaining. A lot to take in, but what we care to remember is up to us. He answered questions politely, and his overall delivery was clear and precise.

Captain Jim was fabulous. Very knowledgeable we learned a lot of history and little known facts. I can’t even say enough about how much I loved the tour even though the weather was very warm. He made it so worth it. Best time and money spent.

Captain Jim showed us places we’ve never seen before and had a wealth of knowledge. Loved the hidden alleys and architectural features he explained. Easy going and nice pace.

Booked through Walking Tours of Charleston. Guide was very knowledgably about Charleston history and we saw a lot of houses and buildings and alleys, etc. But two hours of walking a couple minutes and listening to 3-4 minutes of history (repeat often) was a killer on the legs and frankly just a little boring. Wish the guide would tell a couple jokes or have more of a fun repour with the group and maybe cut the tour down to 1 1/2 hours. But if you love lots of history then this is a great tour and you'll get your moneys worth.
