This hotel was a nice stay. Staff were all very kind and helpful. The location is awesome, right in the heart of downtown and on the water. So you get beautiful views of the river and to be walking distance from alot of great spots. My few qualms were that the pictures they have online make the restaurant and parts of the lobby look more polished then I felt it actually was. Also the room had a weird smell. Just smelt a bit off. But overall it was a good stay and a lovely hotel
The Line is aging quickly in a hot area. I loved the view of my room but was disappointed by the furnishings and value. I paid about 650$ for a Saturday night in a river view suite with overnight parking. At that price point I would hope for 5 star service. Instead, I got passive, disinterested staff and an outdated room -- not to mention minibar charges for items I didn't take. I will note the coffee shop on the first floor made a great latte!
We stayed at The Line Austin after Christmas. The room was clean, the amenities were fine, and overall we enjoyed our stay. However, a caution for future guests: An unexpected charge appeared on our account the night we checked out, despite confirming at checkout that our bill was fully settled. When we called, we were told it was for a minibar item—an expensive bottle of liquor we never touched. Before our stay, we had noticed several reviews mentioning similar minibar charge issues, so we took photos of the minibar before and after as a precaution. We sent these photos to the hotel to show that nothing had been moved. If you don’t plan to use the minibar, I highly recommend taking photos just in case. I gave a 3-star rating for this reason. I can’t say whether this is an integrity issue, but with many guests reporting the same problem, it’s something management should investigate and resolve.
Positive: Hotel employee who checked us in was very nice. Location was good Negative: Hotel was rated as 4 star but it felt like a 3 star at best. Did not seem clean, there was very little furniture in the room and bed was on the floor. Cheap tv. The room’s ac was set at 68 degrees but never felt cool.
The Line is a very ok hotel. It's clearly been renovated and tried to make more modern and cool. I would say the lobby is great, has a bar and a restaurant and a coffee shop with big fireplaces and lots of seating. The front desk staff were helpful. The location is very central to lots you can walk to in Austin. The issue was the rooms. My specific room was not super clean. There was dirt on the floors and a huge clump of hair in the shower drain. The beds were fine... Comfortable enough. The bathroom was dark. Like so dark I had to use my flashlight to put eye makeup on. The hallways and elevators and rest of the common spaces felt dirty and run down.
I chose to stay at The Line this week while attending a conference one block away. It was such a nice, quiet change from the crowd that I was surrounded by at the conference. I reserved a room with a view of the lake and enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset during my stay. The room was very comfortable. I couldn’t hear any of the other guests from my room. It felt very private. On my last night, I had drinks and dinner at P6…so, so good…great view…wonderful service…very delicious food. Afterwards, I relaxed in the lobby beside the fireplace. All in all, a really wonderful stay.
What a terrible experience all around. First, I booked a "lake side" view and got a view of the next building. Second, I was charged $28 a day plus tax for "Amenities". When I called to ask what those where some ignorant chick said "It's like paddle boarding, scooters, you know, every guest gets charged for it", and then she hung up on me. I didn't use the mini fridge, and they didn't even have basic muffins or juice for breakfast so the amenities are BS. The decor is marketing as some hip, eclectic "vide" but its just and old building. The elevator smelled disgusting, and the carpet was so worn out I don't think they've ever changed it.
