I had a great stay at The Viv last month. The room was comfortable and spacious. All of the staff who I interacted with were super nice and helpful. Food and drinks at Valencia’s were good. The rooftop restaurant was closed, so I didn’t experience that. The pool was too cold, so no experience there either. The little market in the lobby was good for grabbing a few snacks and using that $25/day credit. Unfortunately, their espresso machine was down the whole time I was there. As someone who drinks espresso daily, that was disappointing. Housekeeping was fine but the shower/bathtub were in poor condition. Also, I found it odd that there was no trashcan in the room, only in the bathroom. I’m really surprised by other reviews complaining about deposits and fees. Those are all very standard practices, especially for properties near attractions like Disneyland. All of the fees were disclosed when I booked and when I checked in. They even gave me a piece of paper with all the details. All in all, I’d stay again!
My family visits Disneyland once a year or so, and we’ve never stayed at the same hotel twice. However, after this stay at The Viv, I can’t imagine trying to find a better place! From check in to check out, we had excellent service from the staff and our room was very comfortable. The entire place was clean and well maintained. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool on this trip, but it was beautiful. I briefly explored the rooftop area to get a drink one night and it’s gorgeous. The parking garage is very easy to get in and out of, and the shuttle service to the parks picked up right in front of the hotel. The noise between rooms was almost nonexistent, to the point that I wondered if there were even other guests on our floor. That is not an experience I often have in hotels these days. I am so impressed with the Viv, and I am already looking forward to a return stay.
I didnt realize how far this hotel was from Disneyland. The ART bus does stop at the hotel but the schedule is not consistent. We had to take Uber from Disneyland back to the hotel a few times. The service was not what I would expect. Almost every employee was rude or spoke to me with an attitude. We had to interact with the front desk as we had a unique room situation. We were told different things from different employees. The night shift told us they would note the reservation. In the morning we were told no notes were left and she treated us like we were lying. The atmosphere is cool but I won't stay here again.
The staff here were all polite and attentive, which was very appreciated, but basically where the positives end. The rooms are fairly spartan, and ours had broken fixtures in the bathroom and stains all over the bed skirts. Upon check-in, I was told there would be a $250 deposit for incidentals. Fine, common practice. I was paying for parking, so asked if that and the $25 per day resort fee would just come out of that. I was assured that yes, after that $250, I would only be charged any overages. While checking out, I was told that there would actually be a second charge to my account for the full amount (over $300 in fees for a 4 night stay, ridiculous) but that the original $250 deposit would drop off immediately. Suspicious, but ok. Now, 5 days later, I've been hit with the new charge but the original remains. So, $550 in charges for a 4 night stay. I'm not sure if this is coming from corporate malice or incompetence, but either way, I'm telling anyone who will listen to stay far away from this hotel. It is absolutely not worth it for what the cost ends up being after all of the fees.
Hidden fees add up. Water pressure is not great. Our bathroom had random hairs and wasn’t cleaned throughly. The menus at the restaurant were covered in crusted food/sauce and we ended up walking out after waiting a few minutes without anyone helping us. Expedia put that it was 15 minutes walking from Disney, definitely not true. Resort fees + parking fees add up quickly. Front desk was super friendly and attentive. After the fees + cleanliness + location to Disney, I don’t think I’d stay here again
The hotel has fun, modern decor. But it is definitely well used with wear on the furnature and things faceplates for the elevator buttons not lining up properly. The floor in my room seemed dirty, like they swept, but didn't mop, but i guess if it is carpet they only vacuum. Parking is not great, but I think that is common for this area. The rooftop bar made excellent drinks and a great atmosphere, we did not have time to try the food. The front desk person told us there was a shuttle to Downtown Disney that comes by outside every 30 minutes. We waited an hour and no shuttle ever came by. We had prepaid, but they refused to refund our money. Im more upset that we waisted an hour of our evening than the $6. So if your staying here to go to Disney, I wouldn't rely on their shuttle system. For these reasons I don't think it is worth the $400+ a night. Maybe if it was closer to Disneyland or was better kept, but not based on my experience.
Great experience at this property! We stayed here for a couple of nights during a convention and everything went off without a hitch. Originally I was a bit skeptical booking this property after reading other reviews, but ultimately we did not experience any problems during our visit. Our Marriott Gold Elite status was immediately acknowledged when arriving at the front desk. Our room was ready as soon as we arrived, self parking was easy. Elevators were fast, room was surprisingly large and comfortable. The bed was clean, the air conditioning worked fairly well, the wifi was fast and easy to connect to. Very large wardrobe in the room with a safe. Mini fridge with Marriott Gold benefit full bottles of water were cold and ready to go. We got breakfast from the downstairs market one morning, prices were what you would expect for a convention/amusement park city. Food and coffee was good, large selection of snacks and beverages (both non and alcoholic). We didn't get a chance to try the other restaurants or bars, but they were always hopping with people. We walked to the convention center and Disneyland from the hotel multiple times. The walk for two adults wasn't bad at all, but be prepared for some tricky crosswalks. The walk is otherwise unremarkable. Some small gripes that ultimately didn't take away from the experience but do want to mention - The engineered wood floor in the room was pretty beat up and the exterior of the window overlooking the pool was pretty dirty. Sink water pressure was fairly poor due to a really restrictive aerator. I would definitely recommend this hotel to business travelers or families looking to come to Disneyland.
