Candlewood Suites San Angelo TX by IHG

Unlike my previous visit, the bed was hard as a rock. We were quite disappointed. Also unlike our last visit, the bathroom was not cleaned well. Handrails around toilet and in shower, shower walls, cabinet, all not cleaned. We didn't get the room we booked because the website lets you book a room that's not available, even though you confirmed with a human it was available. However, the food pantry is great and the staff are nice. So maybe the inconsistencies are few and far between typically, this may have been an anomaly. But the thing that is consistent is that the hotel needs some reno, both times we stayed here the bathroom needed fixing up. Damaged drywall, fixtures with heavy hard water damage, rust, badly applied caulk patching.

I booked a room for my son on 24 Oct for 25-26 Oct. he was traveling on orders with the military and had been flying for 15+ hours. I booked through Expedia. My son went to check in around 9:30pm and the hotel gave his room away to someone else. When I called the front desk right away, the lady at the front desk told me that rooms are not a guarantee when booking through a 3rd party like Expedia. I told her that was BS because I have always used Expedia and we stayed at that exact same hotel two months ago. She was Very rude and seemed to not care at all. She Told me I would have to take it up with the manager tomorrow. My son was in his car in the parking lot dead tired just trying to find a hotel. The lady knew she gave his room away and couldn’t care less. What great service to our military troops!! Absolutely worthless company and service!! I’ll think twice before booking with Candlewood Suites!!

Overall the experience was good but the room needed more cleaning. The shower appeared like the shower floor was dirty and the room itself had trash/crumbs around the floor in the room. The front desk people were friendly and helpful.

The front desk staff was the best part of this stay. Hall by room smell like someone had been cleaning fish. The room itself had a sewer gas odor or leak. The sheet were clean but the towels were worn out. The bathroom floor was filthy, the walls and window treatments had damage. The security was lax with downstairs side entry doors propped open the entire stay. Just avoid this one.

First and for most. My room smelled like cat pee. There were hair balls in my closet. Roaches in my bathroom. Hair in my shower stains in my toilet. When I pulled back my bed sheets it was covered in hair like someone just fluffed up the previous bed but hadn't changed the sheets properly. Toe nail clipping by the bedside like no one vacuumed the ac unit was dirty the filters were covered in dust. And there were left over food containers in the refrigerator. I had towels with stained on them and a wet shower curtain. Along with the soggy floors and loud housekeepers it's safe to say I will not be returning to this hotel. Price is also outrageous for the location and conditions of the room.

Solid 4-star review. The only reason it was not a 5 is the fact that breakfast is not served here. Awhile back it was one of those things that most hotels did not serve breakfast and now it seems like it has flipped so I just need to make sure and check the amenities much closer next time. Although they do not serve breakfast they do have a good assortment of breakfast options and other types of food and beverages you can pay for. Coffee and bananas and apple are offer for free and they had a decent fitness and laundry area. The rooms were roomy and the beds are super comfortable. The customer service was excellent upon arrival and checkout as well. The hospitality department did a great job with keeping the room clean and provided any extra items requested with no issues whatsoever. There is a full sized refrigerator and the kitchen area supplied everything you would need to prepare a meal. Other than the lack of "free breakfast" it was a great experience and I would definitely book here again in the future.

Very comfortable rooms!!, well located in San Angelo, plenty of restaurants around there's even an outlet mall nearby
