My favorite camera store in Houston. Bought a tripod from Mikey today and he is the best sales associate in the building no doubt. I also bought a camera bag from Bernie yesterday and he was extremely helpful as usual and the manager (I didn’t get her name) was beyond gracious with my purchase of a camera bag. Big sale going on now this weekend. Don’t miss it…
Had a Nikon D40 with shutter issues. Called HCE and spoke to Adriana. She was very nice and had some helpful suggestions. Adriana invited us to visit the store and speak to the staff, as they may be able to help trouble shoot. We did just that. The staff was helpful and informed. We tried to troubleshoot the shutter issue to no avail… based on YouTube videos I was pretty sure it was a lost cause. However, I was able to purchase a Nikon 5200 body at a very reasonable price. The staff made sure all our lenses functioned with it and we left the store very happy with our experience. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff. In addition they carry an excellent inventory with lots to chose from. Highly recommend. Thank you Adriana!
As someone new to the camera industry, I was so accepted and informed by Matthew. I had so many questions and was unsure but I left feeling confident in my camera work and ready to do some photo shoots. Thank you for the professionalism and knowledge as I plan to expand my hobby of photography. I can’t wait to come back and share what I’ve been able to do with the tools that Matthew at Houston Camera exchange has given me.
They offered $4000 for Nikon Z9 with stickers still on and 7 never used lens. Made the mistake of sending my husband who they tried to low ball. Told my husband that a Z9 brand new retail only sold for under $3000. B & H Photo bought everything for $6200.
I have shopping here for most of my camera needs since 2010. I have enjoyed working with the sales staff each time I have been in. In 2010, I got back into photography with an entry level Nikon DSLR to make sure that I would use it before getting more advanced systems. Since then, I have transitioned to the Leica M system for the experience of shooting with a rangefinder. I stopped in today to enquirer about the availability of two variations of a 50mm lens. I spoke with Charlie Nelson. He has contacted Leica about the availability of each lens. As one is new to the market, it is in limited supply. Once I know availability, I will make my final decision as to which I buy. I could get the lenses elsewhere but I choose to support my local camera store.
Just came in to look around, we needed some help so we came up to this lady with blonde and blue hair to ask a couple of questions. She was acting all snobby, trying to make us feel dumb for asking questions. Acting like she didn't want to answer us. We asked if she could show us some lens in different price ranges she then aggressively put two on the table. Really just had an attitude overall. Everyone else tho was cheery and helpful with good customer service.
They have a great selection fir modern cameras. I was looking for some gear for my analog cameras, unfortunately that was lacking. I wish there was more resources for that but I wont fret as that is a neich hobby in an already neich community. The staff is nice-ish. Everything I asked about got a response of "You can find that online" or "Have you heard of B&H?". If im at the store its not because I want to see what I can find online, I want to see their inventory. They still helped me out with what I asked for but there was something off about the employee who helped me. I recommend you do some serious research in what you want so you dont pass off as novice and get treated with some respect. I may go back and hopefully edit this review but it wasn't a great first impression for me.
