Beauty Bar Chicago

This one was tough. Wanted to love it so much but there were some major problems. The good - went for Recession Pop night and the music was great, bouncer and coat check staff were nice and the decor had a really fun vintage aesthetic. The bad - there's no way they were under their max occupancy (it was packed so full we couldn't even really dance, had full body contact in all directions and there were no paths for people to walk through), the bar service was the absolute most mind-numbingly slow and disorganized I've ever experienced and the other patrons were on their absolute worst behavior. On these - having only one real entrance to the cramped dance floor is completely absurd, as it led to a great deal of pushing and shoving anytime anybody wanted to come in or leave. This was the most overcrowded I've ever seen a bar and honestly first time I've felt incredibly unsafe in a bar because of crowding. The number of bartenders was far too low for the number of patrons and they kept running into each other / knocking things over. Certainly didn't help that another staff member or maybe manager was behind the bar literally blocking every move the bartenders tried to make - this same staff was gumming up the cost check counter too and just seemed to be making every other staff member's job worse. I don't know what happened, but it feels like all bar etiquette was out the window at this place - a great deal of pushing and shoving (even some elbowing and swearing), tons of people taking flash pictures, people taking up way more space than they should be given the crowding, really excessive dance moves (saw someone get absolutely smashed in the face by the elbow of a very drunk person dancing too hard), dancing on benches and people barely able to to stand up / clearly over served. I couldn't comprehend some of the women doing really excessive hair flips in a place this crowded - at various points, I had hair in my eyes, in my mouth and in my drink. And please - don't bring your 10 credit cards to the bar without working pockets or a wallet/purse! This woman dumped all of her cards on the floor at the crowded bar counter and didn't notice, so they got kicked all over the suddenly you've got a third of the bar with their flashlights on picking up cards. Within the next hour and a half, this SAME person lost all of their cards again but on this dance floor this time. Of course they scattered and this person didn't notice, so suddenly a quarter of the dance floor is flashlights on trying to pick up cards for someone that doesn't even know they're missing them. Overall, just a complete hot mess of a night. Had some fun but a lot of things made it pretty much impossible to have fun. Ultimately have decided this wasn't worth the trek from the North side outside of getting to check the place out. I'd much rather stick to Halsted, where things seem a little more under control / up to snuff and barhopping is actually possible if the vibe of a place is ever not right.

I've been coming to Beauty Bar for years! It's always been an awesome place to hear good throwbacks and to dance with friends! I appreciate that it's a casual spot with a nice happy hour. It's always consistent - I'll always have a nice night out, when I come here. Although, I do miss the manicures! Lol.

DJ All The Way Kay as the BEST and the atmosphere was amazing as well as my time. zi went for my friend’s bachelorette and we all had such a good time. bartenders (man bun and hat(idk what it’s called)) were so nice and i’m so sorry for yelling at you so you could here when you tojsbky could’ve heard anyways. but my sweater didn’t get stolen. i do wish the dance floor was bigger but it was such a good night. thank you so much <3

The dance room is decorated with lots of visual elements and disco balls making it easy to let go and get into an artistic mind frame to dance all night long! There’s also plenty of room to lounge and chat with folks on plush sofas, and they are actually clean.

Absolutely LOVE Beauty Bar! Recently visited for the first time and will definitely be back many more in the near future. Super fun and upbeat place with awesome staff and DJs!

Went for my birthday and I had a BLAST!!! I went for indie/ 2000s and it was a busy night, but bartenders were oh so kind! Music was great and even coat check was smooth. I think I speak for many of us when I say I could stare at that disco ball for ages. I visit the city every now and then, but I’ve never gone! Worth the anticipation and absolutely worth the struggle of figuring out what to wear

Such a cool spot! Drinks are affordable. They offer a happy hour...like who is doing that these days!?? The staff is super polite and i love the music! Its rare to dance these days, and this club allows you to be YOU!
