Narrow Gauge Nature Area UPDATE 10-08-24 AUTUMN 🍁 PICS .....An amazing experience in Ann Arbor. I must say no paths, just hiking on a prayer and tick repellent clothing and the beauty is astounding. It is in the midst of a residential housing area, so, I minded my business and respected theirs. Definitely not for a non avid hiker. Just be prepared! UPDATE 10-8-24 wow
Very intriguing park and mystical hike, filled with a lot of plant and bird species.
This is a cool park because there are no planned out trails, playgrounds or facilities, its just nature at its purest form. The spacing of the trees allow for great exploration, with a beautiful stream in the park. A way to get away and get a green bath without many or any other people around.
Interesting spot to observe erosion and geomorphological features of Michigan's glacial features like kettle ponds and morraines. Pretty steep in some spots; trails not worn very much; was in between a bunch of really nice houses so it kinda felt like I was in someone's back yard...
Didn’t find a walking trail but nice scenery.
This park seems to be for the scenic benefit of the few rich people who live on its borders. There is not so much as a sign, a picnic table, or even a path, for visitors. Why did over a million dollars of public money pour into this?
About 35-40 years ago the land owner had an operating narrow gauge train running on this property. A friend living in Geddes Lakes (when it was still a new development, just inside the "city limits") used to walk his dog up there and got to know the fellow. That was all township land then, call it the other side of the tracks, lol. The only reason I guess so much $ might have been spent on it would be to incorporate that area into the City. None of the big, rich, homes around the S end of Green Rd. existed then, but they now contribute to the tax base (unless I'm mistaken). Unlike many large homes on the bluff overlooking Geddes Rd and the river at Gallup Park, which I believe are still in an island of twp and do not add to the City tax base. Not too bad a deal for posterity I would think.
