This was a terrible experience. Viking Ullar Bucharest to Budapest October 2025 .Food mediocre. Rooms very small. Cleaning staff excellent. Wait staff relatively good. I fell ill on second day. I attended the dining room minimally for 2 days. There is NO medical staff on board. I was not eating or drinking. My spouse attempted to get me a ginger ale and because it was not at dining hours they charged for this. At one of the ports we attempted to find a pharmacy. Very little assistance from the female lead on the cruise ship. When we were returning to the ship it was dark. No signs or lights. We wandered for over 30 min before a local assisted us. The boat departing for 7 pm.we made it at 655. Again the female lead of the boat , when questioned regarding the fact that there was no one at the port entrance to assist , began to laugh. She stated " yes we knew there were still 3 people out there. We were with flashlights looking for you but we gave up". And she began to laugh. I was too unwell to challenge this any further. The ports on this cruise were mediocre. Only Bucharest and Budapest were lovely. Hotels at beginning and end were amazing. Both JW Marriott. Well situated. All in all this cruise was very underwhelming. Would not recommend the itinerary. Have travelled Uniworld. A completely different experience…
We just finished our first Viking river cruise. It was an incredible experience in the Bordeaux, France area on the Viking Forseti. I was amazed at the quality of the staff, their attention to detail, friendliness and helpfulness, and continuous efforts to make our first river cruise enjoyable and meaningful. The ship is well designed, and the staff kept it impeccably clean. The food was 5 out of 5. The daily tours were well organized, and the local guides were excellent. The senior staff were constantly checking with the passengers to make sure that they were satisfied with their experience on the Forseti and to see if there were any issues or concerns that needed to be addressed. Without question, Viking will be our first choice on our next river cruise.
Very underwhelming. Was expecting great food and outstanding service and neither were provided. They falsely advertise free tv and soda. Tv doesn’t work. I can cook better than a lot of the food I ate on the river cruise. They serve wet and tattered napkins every day. Is this upscale to you?
My wife and I are two-time travelers with Viking River Cruises and were more than pleased and booked a third trip for this fall only to be disappointed before we even depart on the trip. For this trip, we also booked a three-day post-trip extension only to recently learn that Viking does not provide enough slots on the excursions to accommodate all those taking the extension. We thought Viking might respond in some practical way but its response was to thank us for our understanding. It's too late to substitute another cruise line but Viking will no longer be our go-to-choice.
Todd is great, Neal is Amazing
If you love cruising then Viking is for you
It's an office full of awesome people.
