We could not have had a more perfect cruise than with Jim and Patriot Sailing! He was very responsive in setting up communications for the outing, an anniversary surprise for my husband, even in the hours before when bad weather threatened to cancel. He was generous in sharing his knowledge and the working of the boat, offering the rudder and the lines so we could tailor our own experience. Thank you, Jim .. this is one of those highlight memories that we will be a favorite for the next 20 years!

Jim is a fantastic sailing instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable and provides a very fun and hands on way to learn sailing while on the water. It's hard not to get hooked after a lesson with him!

Me and my partner Niki had a wonderful time with Jim and learning how to sail! He was very patient, his explanations were very easy to understand and he was clear and concise in his instruction. I never at one point felt overwhelmed or not understanding anything. He was extremely patient with us, and he made sure we knew every aspect of the boat, and what to look for before we set sail. Our last day was amazing! We had great wind! And it was such a good time! The docking day was extremely helpful and intimidating at first but Jim made us feel fantastic and confident in our learning. I 10/10 recommend learning to sail with this company! I am looking forward to purchasing our very own sailboat, and I feel confident we are going to have a great time because of the lessons we received. Thank you Jim!

After comparing multiple sailing schools in WNY, I landed on Patriot Sailing due to its excellent reputation, low instructor-to-student ratio, overall time on the water, and price. Jim is knowledgeable and experienced, and as an instructor his love of sailing comes through during each lesson. I felt like I progressed at the right pace—never rushed and I never felt out of my depth. If a class needed to be postponed due to the weather, Jim was accommodating so it could be quickly rescheduled. Most importantly, his detailed explanations of sailing concepts and techniques, and constant reinforcement left me feeling well prepared after the course was finished. Having completed the Learn to Sail course, I can say this is the school you want to pick.

A fantastic six days of learning and sailing with Jim!! If you want to learn and have all the complexity’s of sailing to make sense and become ingrained in your sailing experience- Jim at Patriot Sailing should be your choice. He is extremely thorough, repetitive (really is important I feel when learning) and SAFE!! His boat is the perfect size to learn on. We had SO MUCH FUN and walked away confident that I can continue to sail with a better than good base knowledge, sailing my recently purchase Merit Sprint 23.
