Great spot for birding. Saw a northern harrier, belted kingfisher, great blue heron, bald eagles, and ducks. Lots and lots of ducks. There’s an easy paved trail from the riverfront park to the wildlife refuge. Once you cross the bridge to the refuge you’ll be walking on a dirt path. There’s loop that goes around the island, but we turned around midway through. The loop path is severely overgrown in sections of the trail. Would be 5 star if the trails in the refuge were maintained.

Great walk along the river and then into a wildlife preserve area. There are always bald eagles along the trail. We saw another one today. The trail is paved to the island and then it turns to dirt. A lot of birds along the trail. You can do a loop or out and back. Great hike!

Decent easy stroll through a wetland. The trails are easy to walk on. Very flat, not much of an evaluation change. You'll have to walk about 1/4 mile from the parking area to the bridge. Blackberry bushes are everywhere, pretty but they will snag your clothing and your body. As someone else posted, there are odors from the sewage treatment plant. Not overwhelming but quite noticeable in some areas. There are wildlife viewing stands but no apparent way to get to them and they have seen better days.

Always on the lookout for places to view nature, from wildlife to landscapes. I’ve often wondered what the lowland area, to the north of the trestle bridge out of Everett had to offer. Today, I finally found out. After meandering through the industrial land on the north end of Everett, I made it to the subtle and small parking area, about a half mile to the west of Spencer Island. I walked the trail to the north of the bridge and was super impressed with how much I saw in such a short time. Bald Eagles, a Heron and two migrating Tundra Swans that flew overhead. Not to mention, the fresh powder on the mountains closest to the city, Pilchuck and Three Fingers. Views were astounding for this preserve. I will inevitably be back, I think I’ve found a new favorite place. My only reason for docking a star, is the parking area is a little sus. I’d make sure you don’t leave any valuables in sight.

Beautiful place to walk, run, or bike. There is a paved trail just before the bridge, or a gravel walk that cuts through the trees and brush on the other side. Very peaceful, even if you can still hear noise from I-5.

Saw some beautiful views and lots of birds but the park has seen no maintenance in years. Use to be a great loop but now most of the trails are overgrown. Hard to go further than 1/2 mile from the bridge to the island. Hope the county or city cleans up the trails. Also lots of dog poop around the trail head and needles around the toilet. Won't be back till I hear it has been cleaned up.
