Dauntless Sailing School

I took the beginner sailing class with Todd over six weeks this past summer and am just now getting around to posting a review. Was an excellent introduction with a very hands on approach to sailing with plenty of helm time, and I hope to own my own sailboat one day or at least be competent enough to be able to rent one if I want to hit the water. Todd is very entertaining with his stories and is a well seasoned sailor/Instructor. By the end of the six week beginner course Todd was guiding us what to do but we were able to navigate the boat all the way from start to end. Highly recommend if you're anywhere in the greater Indianapolis area (I actually made the drive down and back from Lafayette).

I just completed the Beginner class and I've already signed up for the follow-up class, Performance Sailing. That says it all! You'll be on the sailboat from the first minute of class, and soon you'll be behind the wheel or working the headsail as you tack around the Reservoir. It's a very hands-on class. Leave your ego at home, as the Captain is demanding. You'll understand why, when you are heeled over at 18 degrees in a breeze. Go for it!

What a great investment. You can only Youtube so many things before really just need first hand knowledge. Took the adult beginner class and ran with it. Now we own a 31 foot Hunter. Tod has been amazing on so many levels and we wish him a heart felt thank you.

There is a place for all neurotypical and neurodivergent adults in Dauntless Sailing School. Captain Todd is capable, accessible and generous with his time.

I just finished my six week beginning sailing course with Captain Todd aboard Dauntless. I loved it! Todd is very thorough in teaching points of sail, sail trimming techniques, safety, anchoring, and docking. I really enjoyed the hands on aspect of the course; each progressive week my confidence increased, and can truly say that by week 6, my classmates and I were able to take Dauntless out for a 2.5 hour sail around Geist and return to the dock with little or no corrections from our able instructor. Bravo Captain Todd! I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn to sail. I loved it so much, I have signed up for another 6 week class!

Dauntless sailing school gives you a great start into sailing. He teaches the ins and outs to give you an accelerated start into sailing. I’ve been on boats most my life and sailing is a lot different as I learned. Captain Todd gives you insight to get you going and he does not let you give up. I recommend this class to everyone who wants to start or just try it out.

I had an amazing time learning how to sail with Todd. He is a very talented and patient instructor. I ask a lot of questions that could easily annoy, yet Todd stuck with me and made sure I could comfortably and competently execute whichever maneuver we were working on in that session. I couldn't recommend this experience highly enough, being out on Geist reservoir is a breathtaking experience, and learning to sail the Dauntless will be a treasured memory for years to come.
