This place is beautiful. I am excited for the city to finish the renovations of the piers to create more recreational opportunity. I have spent time up here for two years in a row and have not had any issues. The Community is nice, the area is up and coming. I love the walk down the pier. The sunset has been some of the most beautiful sceneries. Stores like walmart are approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the pier. Currently, the fishing piers are hard to navigate and can become crowded. Having a place to drive up to without having to walk too far is going to be wonderful and a blessing to all who are unable to walk that far! I hope that they dont overcrowded the piers with an overabundance of events so that us fisher(wo)men are able to continue our relaxing evening(s). I was up there for a week with high winds on most nights. There is not a guard for children to be on the pier without supervision. Also to have children over the rail on the pier is dangerous. So to the parents who think its okay, please be on the pier with your children and not in your cars.
Perfect spot in June for a romantic walk. Live music playing off the veranda as the gulls sing a tune and the lights dancing on the water is mesmerizing. Love this spot!
This is THEE best spot to view the sunset on Lake Erie any time of year. The pier itself is beautiful & the views are breathtaking. The lighthouse adds an awesome subject to your photos & it is lit up in different colors depending on the time of year or the closest holiday. Be sure to stay after the sun disappears because the afterglow is sometimes more beautiful than the actual sunset. There is a path that starts behind the rocks that are in the middle of the mile long pier. Wildlife is in abundance most of the year as long as the lake isn't frozen over. A definite must-see if you're in the area.
This pier runs all along Marina. During the summer it is jam-packed. The walkway is brick. There is another small pier that you can walk out to the middle of the marina. I think it used to be for fishing but with the incline of the rocks I think it's pretty hard to be able to get anything out of the water that you caught. On the other side of a parking lot is a small pond area. I'm not sure if they let you fish there but it's just nice to see. This would be a fantastic place to catch a sunset with the lighthouse in the background. There are swings all along the pier where you can watch the boats coming in. They also offer boat tours and sunset diner lighthouse tours. You cannot walk to the lighthouse only by boat
Very nice pier out on Lake Erie. We were there on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. Lot of fishermen enjoying the lake, people walking their dogs etc. The lake views were beautiful. Felt very safe, saw two law enforcement officers patrolling the parking area. There is a large parking area all along the pier area. It was clean and neatly mowed and maintained, saw very little trash etc. Easy walk out to the end and back. Very relaxing
My husband took me here to show how close the lighthouse is and we spend a few hours taking tons of photos.
