Waterworks Park, Pueblo, CO

If you like water sport kind of activities you will love this new and improved area of the river. While we took our team out for some fun we saw fishing, rafting, surfing, biking, walking, kayaking. The only hard part is parking, I talked to the ranger and there is plans to improve parking and making it closer.

This is fun for the entire family without a doubt. Carry your tube or Paddleboard up the hill and do it again all day long. As word gets out parking is going to become a huge problem so I suggest that the city begins planning for it now. I actually rode my paddleboard down from the Cottonwood Parking lot near the Pueblo Reservoir Dam to Waterworks Park. It’s 5 miles and it took me 1:40 and it was FREE, FUN, & great EXERCISE…… This should become " The thing to do in Pueblo" in no time at all. Wear your life jacket!!!! It’s the right thing to do

The last drop (aka "lowers") has potential to be one of the best statewide river surfing destination spots for traveling surfers. It was test surfed in 2024 & was found to be an excellent clean faced tall & fast wave. Tubers will also find it a thrill to go thru/over lowers as the surfers will gladly give priority to the tubers and a break in the river surfing action to let the tubers float on by as the surfers cheer the tubers while keeping a safety eye on the tubers. Check the river conditions before surfing or tubing (if in doubt, don’t go out, and have a backup fun activity in mind).

Great park, taking away 1 star for the parking. I parked on the park side of the river, and there's only a very narrow road going in and out and people park on both sides. I don't know if there were any signs for the park. It would be great if there were better river/access past the park, it's a wide narrow long spot, that would be great for hanging out in the river. A lot better than the river park in Colorado springs

Great place to get your steps in. Lots of wildlife to see! Staff do a good job keep place clean. People with dogs need to pick up their dogs poop! It's your responsibility.
