Pipeline Overlook

Cool spot for a walk and some art.

One of the coolest views I've seen in a while. The soothing sounds of rushing water and the warmness surrounding my toes as I stepped into it. There's nothing like this place. This was my first time visiting and I really enjoyed it. I hope to come back next time and spend more time in the water.

I went yesterday based on the photos, its closed. Locked with a gate. Paid to park to find i couldn't access it.

Great experience. Narrow walkway so please be courteous to other people when they want to pass. This area is a popular attraction in summer, people get down off the walk and in the sandy beach beside the James River. Off path is some trash and homeless camps.. I've never had a problem with them when I visit. Would love to see some beach cleanup effort. Be cautious of snakes.. they are there. Take a picture and leave them be.

The pipeline overlook is an interesting walk. There is parking nearby for $8 a day. You enter these large metal door as shown in the photos and you turn left. There is a sign that tells you a bit about the overlook. You have to go down a short metal ladder and then you can walk on a path that follows the pipeline which gives you a nice view. There is a small beach and folks swim and fish nearby. It's a charming way to escape from the city. The last piece of the walk had no railing but there is a nice small waterfall at the end. This walk is not great for invalids or small children. You would need to hold on to little ones. It's a short walk which is about 15 minutes long. Worth checking out!

Absolutely love the free art exhibit , coming from Philly (another colonial living art city ) this place reminded me so much of home, there’s also a super cool trail to explore with small beaches. Absolutely the best end to my little day trip

Overlook by the parking lot isn't much to see, but the pipeline trail is amazing. Little beaches and spots to swim when the water is low enough, and cascading class 4 /5 Rapids when the river is rocking. Really special spot
