Vallejo Launch Ramp

Loved coming here as a kid and very nostalgic as an adult. Took my nephews to find crabs and trinkets.. They had so much fun.

Drove by today but didn’t go in, it’s a full on encampment at this point and you couldn’t launch even if you wanted to chance it. It’s down to a narrow lane winding through the RVs with no room to turn around with a trailer. No great loss I guess with no dredging it was a mud flat save for very high tides.

DO NOT BOTHER! There is a homeless encampment here now instead. Rows up on rows of broken down trailers and cars. You might be able to park your trailer and truck but it most likely will be stripped of any and all items prior to your return.

We drove down in the car yesterday, March 25, to check this ramp out for pdl fishing kayaks and clearly nobody is kidding when they say it’s gone down hill. There was an hour to go till low tide and the ramp was choked with mud, high and dry past the end of the service docks. Half the parking lot was fenced off for some PGE cleanup and parking fee or not the rest had cars that clearly hadn’t moved in weeks plus a cabin cruiser sitting up on the mud at one of the service docks. Huge disappointment but at least we didn’t come down loaded up in the truck and expecting a good day of fishing out of a safe public launch ramp. I just wish I’d thought to take a photo to share.

From Vallejo Launch Ramp to end of trail is 2.3 miles. Beautiful walk along the water and Vallejo Yacht Club to an extending point near Norm's Bait Shop. A lot of dog walkers and locals getting exercise. Stop for a local cold one at Mare Island Tap Room at the Ferry Building. A great walk all year.

Used to be a great place to launch my boat. Now they have put a bunch of rocks around the parking area and they are a huge hazard as they cannot be seen in the dark. I don't know what the city of Vallejo was thinking when they did this. On top of that all of the planter boxes they placed around the rocks that cut off part of the parking lot are poisonous to people and birds.

This is a very interesting place to visit. We were here for a short time but decided that we want to come back at a later date to see more. There's so much military history here that is fascinating, and they have restaurants and trails for hiking and biking. It appears to be a forgotten area that only just now started growing.
