First it opens at 11 on Sundays, not 10…I purchased a camera which was a bit overpriced compared to other shops and online and it ended up having issues as soon as I got it home. Lucky I was about to return it and get a refund, which was handled properly by staff. Staff were nice and understanding. however I would be cautious buying cameras from them especially if you’re not local and can go back in person to return. The store had a good selection and a variety of film. Overall 4/5 just double check the cameras when buying and get a receipt.

Subject: Wrong Charger for My Fujifilm X-S20 Message: You gave me the wrong charger. I clearly told you the camera model (Fujifilm X-S20) and even showed the battery photo. This charger doesn’t fit. Why sell something without checking properly? I came back to return it but the store was already closed. Please contact me as soon as possible.

Believe the 1 star reviews because this place is just not worth coming to. The workers are so rude. I called in advance asking whether a brand of camera is available at their store so that I can come in and test it. The person who answered the phone noted yes so I came all the way just for him to tell me that all FujiFilm camera batteries are being charged at the moment (I did not call long before but made the trek down which waste the little time I had left that day). Whoever answered the phone did not seem like he wanted to help or cared.

What I find of greatest value with 42nd street photo is TRULY knowledgeable camera consigliere’s . Not aloof or arrogant… but friendly and conversational. They help to tease apart all the specs into easily digestible user & photo experiences. Prices are leading edge. But the value to me is in selecting the right gear and responsive customer service I don’t need someone to read me the specs… I’ve already done that. I want first hand usage experience and remarkably that’s what 42nd street photo photo delivers

Very professional and knowledgeable staff. They gave me an amazing deal on my EOS 90d and I love it! 100% recommend, will be coming back for future purchases.

I paid close to $200 to get my Minolta serviced here. When I took it to another repair shop a few months later because the winding mechanism stopped working, they said it hadn’t been serviced in years and that 42nd street likely didn’t do anything to it but maybe lubricate it.

I had a terrible experience with this camera repair shop and strongly advise others to avoid it. We paid a total of $540 upfront for a camera repair — $420 on a credit card and $120 in cash. Later, they told us they couldn’t fix the camera and said we’d have to send it to Canon ourselves. If they knew they couldn’t handle the repair, why take our money at all? When we asked a few basic questions about the situation, they became defensive and said, "You know what, this isn’t going to work out," and gave us the camera back with a refund — but only after a lot of back and forth. Even worse: • Parts were missing from the camera, and when we asked for them, they claimed they didn’t have them. • They gave us a hard time refunding the $420, claiming it was charged to a different credit card. I showed them proof on my card, and after making a random phone call, they handed me a refund receipt — which I highly doubt will result in any actual refund. • They did return the $120 in cash we gave them. The entire experience felt sketchy and unprofessional. There was no clear communication, they mishandled our camera, and we’re still unsure if we’ll get our money back. Don’t risk your equipment or your wallet — take your camera somewhere reputable.
