Kirkwood
Kirkwood in Chicago stands out as a sports-centric bar where patrons can enjoy lively atmospheres, especially during big games. Known for its solid food offerings, like juicy chicken tenders and crispy fries, it pairs well with a selection of drinks—though prices lean higher. The space thrives when filled with enthusiastic crowds, particularly for college football, blending energy with a laid-back, communal vibe.
The service can vary, with staff often attentive during peak times but occasionally slow under heavy foot traffic. While the no-cover-charge policy adds approachability, the restroom facilities may feel cramped during busy nights. Ideal for fans looking to cheer loudly or unwind with decent bites, it’s best suited for game days—though non-sports visitors may find the ambiance less engaging.

Kirkwood is a great spot to watch sports, drink, and enjoy a bite. While watching the Cubs we ordered a couple of drinks and paired them with the chicken tenders and fries. Both appetizers were great! The tenders were perfectly cooked and the fries reminded us of cracked pepper chips (this is a good thing). Sadly, the service was a bit underwhelming and slow for the amount of people there. But overall it was as good experience.
Incredible chicken tenders - juicy, large, and I loved the assortment of sauces. A great ambiance and energy too when there’s an IU game on.
Nice spot, and decent drinks! Food is pretty delicious as well. Atmosphere is a bit louder than I would’ve cared for but overall not too bad
My wife and I were in Chicago for the weekend and we strive not to eat at franchises when in the city. This hit the boxes. We must of looked at 50 online menus before finding Kirkwood's. We were not disappointed, the food was good, the prices were acceptable, the atmosphere enjoyable.
We came here as Husker fans to watch Nebraska smoke Colorado. The guys working the door were quick to greet us and usher us inside. The bartenders were engaging and always checking to make sure everyone was taken care of. This bar could benefit from bigger bathrooms as the lines for both restrooms were long. Definitely recommend if you're looking to shout Go Big Red at the top of your lungs!
This place advertises itself as a Husker bar, but don't bother showing up if it's anything other than a football game. I showed up to watch a nationally televised game and was told they could put it on if I go to the less busy side of the bar. I go sit at the bar on the less busy side and am unacknowledged for 15 minutes and other who arrived after me are tended to. You'll be better off finding another bar in the city with multiple TVs on the wall if you want to watch Husker sports that aren't football.
no cover, drinks are expensive but music and vibes are good.
