Lucky Peak Dam Recreation Area: Barclay Bay

This is really nice area to chill , swim, boat, hike, paddle board. Cross over Lucy Peak dam & you’re there. Swimming area for kids & a little play area with a plastic dragon/ Loch Ness monster. The rocks are pretty rough for the feet , bring some sandals or water shoes. Nice dock the lay out & get some sun. Boaters are friendly & are cautious for wake with other people chillin by the ramp. Only 1/2 hour from Boise. Great midweek activity to stay Empowrd stay local , & get out and enjoy the summer peeps!

We had a lot of fun coming out here and just enjoying the views. If your in Boise it's worth the drive! Can't wait to go back on a boat and camp out here. Most of the camping appears to require a boat for access. The time of year we visited we ended up going out on CJ Strike instead, I would love to spend more time here in the future.

Lucky Peak is a great place to go swimming, boating and camping. The boat launches are are plentiful enough that it doesn't take for ever to get on or off the lake. It's a good place to spend the day or a weekend.

Love this place, it's usually fairly empty, the water is clear and cold. Fantastic place for boating/jetski activities, I personally love snorkeling here, and everyone has been kind that I've met. There is a bathroom facility, dogs are NOT allowed on the beach, however you can have dogs on leash in a grassy area just outside of the beach area. There are several covered picnic areas with grills, and a dock that you can fish off of. Beware of horseflies though. It's a bit difficult to find which is the only reason I'm giving it 4/5 stars.

There are several places to visit lucky peak state park. I have found almost 4 cool spots there. One is located before sandy point beach where two large pipes are placed to drain the excess water of the dam. The sandy point is nice place for bathing & BBQ. The other one is lucky peak dam area. People do camping here. The last one is located in the middle of sandy beach and lucky peak dam area. This one is the most favourite among all four. This is another portion of beautiful lucky peak lake where you can find some opportunity to relax. All those places are so great to rehabiliate your mood!

Good boat access though quite long and steep when water is low at Turner Gulch. Nearby trails will take you all over the hills above Lucky Peak.

Beautiful park! Here in the fall, water has been reduced to prepare for spring snow melt. Still plenty of water to kite board, & wind.
