Malaquite Beach

A Serene and Pristine Escape – My Favorite Texas Beach! Malaquite Beach, located within the Padre Island National Seashore, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and quietest beaches in Texas. I visited in April, and the weather was absolutely perfect—pleasant and not too hot. The sand here is stunningly clean and wide, offering a much more peaceful experience compared to other commercial beaches. We came with hopes of witnessing the sea turtle nesting, and although we weren’t lucky enough to see it this time, the natural beauty of the area made the trip entirely worth it. The sunsets here are breathtakingly beautiful, painting the sky in incredible colors. This is a place where I feel a deep connection to nature, and I make it a point to visit at least once a year. If you love quiet, unspoiled coastal beauty, you must visit Malaquite Beach. It is a true gem of the Gulf Coast. I absolutely love it here!

I really enjoyed my time at Malaquite Beach. It’s such a peaceful spot, and honestly you could spend hours just walking the shoreline and looking for shells—they’re everywhere and some are really beautiful. The beach itself feels clean and uncrowded, which makes it easy to relax without all the noise and chaos you get at busier places. What stood out to me was how natural everything felt. No cars driving by, just soft sand, clear water, and the sound of waves. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down and enjoy being outside. There’s also a visitor center with helpful info, and the amenities like showers and picnic tables make it easy to stay for the day. Between the shells, the calm atmosphere, and the chance to spot wildlife, Malaquite Beach is definitely worth visiting. The view is gorgeous, and it’s one of those places that makes you appreciate the simple things.

Always so gorgeous and lots of sea creatures to see. This trip we came across different types of jellyfish, a baby stingray, all sorts of fish, hermit crabs, ghost crabs and pretty sure a baby shark. There were also lots of cute little prairie dogs in the day and antlered deer at night! Cons: -One toilet in the ladies bathroom kept running even after they would fix it during cleaning time. -Camping spots did have some ant issues. -There wasn’t a camp hosting (we always look forward to meeting them). Due to their absence the deposit box was overflowing and people were randomly parking without reserving spots and rvs were parking in tent campsites.

Beautiful beach. Definitively worth the drive and the entrance fee into the National Seashore. One thing I don’t like about public beaches in Texas is that they allow people to drive their cars and trucks on them. To my knowledge, the National Seashore at Malaquite Beach doesn’t allow this. The pure serenity of seeing miles and miles of undeveloped shoreline along the pristine beaches of Padre Island (with no vehicles - but for the Park Service) is something that must be seen to be believed. This place is a national treasure. The secret though is this: Assuming you’re going on a clear sunny day, arrive just before dawn and watch the sunrise over the ocean. You’ll probably have the whole beach to yourself if you go on a weekday. Just amazing. The temperature is cool the colors are amazing and the solitude there at Malaquite is like something out of a dream. You won’t regret it, I promise you.

I was told to come here because it is supposedly better than Port Aransas beach. Boy, was that a mistake. This beach is located inside a park that you have to pay $10 for. Considering everyone gets charged, you would think the beach would be well maintained.. well, you'd be wrong. There was trash everywhere, broken glass getting in your tires is a risk as well. The water was dirty and brown compared to Port A (Considering they both are in the gulf, and Texas doesn't really have beaches like the east and west coast) plus at Port A, you pay $12 for an entire year vs $10 a day for a dirty and trashy beach. Oh, did I mention dead jellyfish and stingrays on shore? Yeah.. there were several of those. Definitely wouldn't wanna step on that, would you? Just go to Port A where the city actually takes care of it unlike the national park association with this beach. It was sad. Also, the only restrooms were at the beginning of the trail. Port A has them everywhere from the access road. While they "recommend" a 4x4 vehicle, a 2x4 vehicle with a smart driver will work as well. Just go slow and don't accelerate suddenly and you'll be fine.

Beautiful beach!!! This beach has private parking including disability areas and ramps, very clean restrooms, and private showers as well! Perfect for a relaxing day at the beach. Also note that the entrance fee was free for us because we got there a little after 6pm which was even a better trip! The fee is not as hefty as South Padre Island who no longer has private showers!!!

If you have pets, may want to wrap their paws before you walk them. A lot of thorny cockleburs that wreak havoc on their paws! Other than that, very beautiful natural beachfront with a lot of jellyfish and turtles.
