One of my favorite places to hike in the area. I’m happy to pay $5 per day or buy an annual pass to protect these trails and the animals that live here. I’ve seen countless deer, raccoons, possums, bobcats, coyotes, bald eagles, and so much more. The staff that work there are so kind. The trails are very well maintained. You can do short hikes or you can do multiple trails and get some mileage. I highly recommend the bittern marsh trail, it’s wonderful!
I really love Marsh Trail. It’s even more beautiful when it’s raining. There were so many birds, and I loved listening to their chirping. The park is so peaceful and quiet. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get in at first because we couldn’t find our card, and they said they couldn’t help since they only take card payments. We only had cash and tap payment, but luckily we found a card later and were able to get in after paying. So yeah, don’t forget to bring your card. They won’t let you in without it! The entry fee was $5.
We were lucky to be able to tour the historic cabin on our first visit here. The volunteers were so welcoming and informative. We learned all about the history and life of the cabin and its original settlers. Check out the website for all sorts of events. The trails were wide and peaceful. It’s nice to have this vast green area so close. Amazing views and plenty of sitting areas to rest.
Great place for a nature hike, walk or run (or even just sitting and enjoying nature). Family friendly, although some of the trails aren’t great for strollers. Cottonwood trail is a good one for stroller. Cicada trail is a personal favorite, short but lots of signs with nature knowledge and fully shaded. There are maps available on entry that are pretty clearly marked with all the routes. Bathrooms are all porta potties but at least they are available at all the parking lots. Visitor center is only opened on weekends (staffed by volunteers) but weekdays are nice for enjoying the trails in peace!😊
Decent place to fish, when I'm not catching anything in my usual fishing spots. Might just be the time of year but all I've caught or scene is carp, fun to catch but I wouldn't eat them.
I am a fisherman and love this place. Water is pretty clear if you can see past the ripple. Fish are really healthy. I went on and saw a decent number of carp/buffalo fish. I caught a few small Large Mouth Bass and also some bluegill.
Beautiful nature retreat set aside after the constructuon of the Lewisville Lake dam in 1955 for public enjoyment. Cost $5 to enter but its worth double that, minimum
