Carlsbad RV Park & Campground

Had a great time at Carlsbad Campground for our honeymoon! We stayed for almost a week and there was plenty to do around the area if you don't mind a little drive. The staff was super friendly and helpful! We're already planning our return trip! The cabins are quite nice and the campground has great amenities! Showers and restrooms were always clean. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

First and foremost the staff was super friendly and very accommodating! They helped me choose another spot away from the busy road to reduce traffic noise during my stay. The park is clean of trash or litter which is more than I can say for the city itself. Although, this seems to be more of a full-timer park for oil and gas workers, It didn't seem to affect my stay at all. I removed a star due to the stickers or goats head sand burs. They were so awful. My poor dog couldn't walk an inch without them sticking in her paws. I got a few stuck in my feet as well. Very painful! The women's bathroom and showers were SOOO clean and modern. Probably the nicest RV park bathroom I've ever been in! The pool was up and running during my visit but I didn't use it. The laundry machines seem to be extremely expensive at $3.25 for wash and $3.25 for dry. I did not use them. Overall, a nice two night stay.

This is a very clean park with super nice staff. We had no issues with traffic noise or diesel trucks being noisy in the mornings. The sand burrs are going to be everywhere in this area - nothing can be done about that. The dog areas are indeed very small - and we have a large dog that needs lots of exercise - and we made everything work just fine. This is a great place - no complaints!

We arrived at this park later than planned due to the massive snow/ice storm the country was endured. The management worked with us in changing our dates but would not refund two of our days after we were led to believe that they would due to road closures etc. Not very happy about that at all. Once we arrived, though, the staff greeted us and were extremely helpful! Tanya and Norm were both very friendly and helpful. Our friends had an issue when the snow was melting that it crested a huge puddle by the hook ups. The maintenance crew kept coming out and dragging the tractor/plow to drain the water. By the time we left, it had dried up. That was very helpful. The park is about 30 minutes from the caverns and wasn’t a bad drive at all. Lots of places, locally to eat, get gas, etc.

We chose this for its location and proximity to Carlsbad Caverns which was closed due to the government shutdown. The campground was secure with a code to get in after hours. The site we had was gravel pad and an adjacent grass pad with a picnic table and NO shade. And NM is hot. Sites were very close to one another. They had an indoor pool, free popcorn and a laundromat. It was hot and windy so we stayed in the camper the entire time when in the campground, and we could not put out our awning. I am giving this a very low score because of the goatheads, spiky prickly plants, that were EVERYWHERE we walked. It literally ruined our stay. So glad we did not have a pet. The location was in good proximity to town and to the Caverns but the park was nothing to rave about.

My husband and I have been on the road in our motorhome for six months and have stayed in hundreds of parks. We have never posted a negative review, but feel like it is our obligation to warn others not to stay here. This is a treeless gravel parking lot in the middle of town with rude and nasty staff. We booked this three-night stay five months ago, only to be put in a mud pit with the entire park's electrical panels beside us, directly on the main road in/out. When we politely asked if we could be moved to one of the many empty sites which were large enough to accommodate our 35' motorhome, they refused with excuses that the turns were too tight for class A's (they were not, and there were other class A's in the section) or the open sites were for full-time guests only. In fact, it turns out that the majority of the place is full of folks who live there and leave for work (most likely oil field workers) in their diesel trucks before 5 am. When I reiterated that we booked this stay 6 months prior and deserved a better location, the rude staff member waved her hand at me and told me to leave. And of course, they refused to refund our money. We stayed one of the three nights and left. I will be sure to post this on every other platform I can to ensure good folks don't get taken like we did. RV Life Pro should not offer this place on their platform anymore.

We were drawn in by the photos on the website, but unfortunately, they’re not an accurate reflection of the park today. The grounds are riddled with large potholes, and despite the park being over half empty, most of the occupants seem to be long-term residents. That in itself isn’t an issue, but it does give the place more of a permanent trailer park vibe than a welcoming RV destination.||The dog parks are just hard-packed dirt with no grass, and the property overall looks neglected — broken tree limbs, worn-down features, and a general lack of care. The on-site WiFi was useless, barely functioning for even basic tasks. When I asked the manager about it, she blamed the rain. Not a great sign if spotty WiFi is the norm anytime the weather turns.||The indoor pool was another letdown. It was uncomfortably cold and when I asked the manager, she insisted it was at 81 degrees. That may be fine for an outdoor summer pool, but inside a building, it’s just too chilly. She made it clear they wouldn’t be turning up the heat.||Looking for ideas on what to do on a rainy day, I asked the same manager for suggestions. Her answer? "I don’t live here—I go home when I’m off work." Ironically, her house is right next to our site (B22). Definitely not the kind of attitude you want when you’re paying a premium for service.||Laundry facilities are overpriced at $3.50 each for the washer and dryer. The showers were hot, which I appreciated, but the drains were slow, so bring your shower shoes.||On the plus side, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. But overall, this park is tired, overpriced, and poorly managed. For $60 a night, I expected much more.
