Durham Marriott City Center

Beautiful Marriott Hotel in downtown Durham, North Carolina. Very close to everything in the center city and you can walk to restaurants and other events. We loved our stay at the hotel and had a wonderful dinner in their restaurant on the first night. We used the fitness center and it was clean with lots of good equipment. All the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Very pretty decorations for Christmas. Highly recommended!

Hotel staff tends to be rude. Was chastised by the valet for not immediately providing the PIN during the chaotic curbside arrival. Then, while out at our daughter’s dance competition, workers entered our room and left the room with the door propped wide open for who knows how long. Door wide open, all our belongings in there, unsecured. Let the front desk staff know what happened and they couldn’t care less. Don’t expect Titanium level hospitality here.

Newly updated rooms, great location, extremely friendly staff. I think the G.M. Susan was flirting with me because she upgraded me to a corner king at no charge. All in all, great experience.

Can’t say enough about how great Christopher is at the front desk, friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. He truly set the tone for a wonderful stay. The hotel is currently undergoing bathroom renovations, but you’d hardly notice if not for the signs. Everything is clean, organized, and well-maintained.||The rooms are modern, nicely designed, and include convenient touches like a mini fridge. The property’s location is fantastic, with walking trails and plenty to do nearby, including easy access to Duke’s campus.||That said, the rooms let in quite a bit of outside noise, which can be disruptive at night. It’s somewhat expected downtown, but better soundproofing would make a big difference. Overall, a solid stay with excellent staff—just wish it were a bit quieter.

My husband and I attended the Chris Botti concert at the Carolina Theater in December 2021 and we spent the night at this hotel. It was a perfect location, as all we had to do was exit the side of the hotel and walk down two small flights of stairs to enter the theater. The buildings are beside one another. The room was nice and standard for the Marriott experience. We had a corner King room on the 7th floor, which had a couch and small table. It was a great setting for drinks before the event. The room was clean, everything worked properly, staff friendly, no complaints. The only suggestions I have is maybe a shower upgrade from old school tub/shower and a decrease in price for valet parking. $20/day is a little steep for Durham, in my opinion. I would and will definitely stay there again.

This is our "go-to" place to stay in the RDU area. The staff are always kind and caring. We never experienced any problems during construction, and have always had an excellent experience. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and the amenities are very nice.

I checked in late and the gentleman at the front desk was very attentive and had very positive energy about himself. The room I has was nice and clean but the bathroom was very disappointing. The ceilings had disturbing bubbles over the bath and shower..It was clear it was from the bathroom above. Kind of nasty but I only had one night their and the overall room was clean. I was told showers were being replaced in all the rooms but I would recommend the entire bathroom remodel..Location was good. Not sure I would come back until the renovations were complete. I'm just use to a higher quality from Marriott..
