Aloft by Marriott Birmingham Soho Square

Positive: Great location. Negative: Everything else- dirty, poorly maintained, parking fee. Avoid this one, the poor reviews are 100% accurate. I figured how bad could an Aloft in a great location be? It was that bad…

Very clean, great staff, great covered parking. I would only stay here again if solo. For a couple it is a no. The sliding bathroom door was a HUGE NO for us. It made noise super hard to close and for people trying to sleep it was a no go. The hotel is a great location, we loved it except for a few things. The bathroom sliding door was horrible it bumped into the sink, was SUPER heavy, there was a glass window in the shower no reason for it and it made it bright for the person asleep. Also the soap/shampoo was mounted under the showerhead so you get soaked trying to use it. Again a great location, clean and if one person I would stay againbut not if two people having to use that i possible shower door.

Fantastic stay at the Aloft Hotel Soho Birmingham! Ms. Regina checked us in and was incredibly kind and welcoming. She went above and beyond to help us with early check-in, parking, and explaining the amenities, which made everything so easy and stress-free. The hotel is very clean, quiet, and well maintained. The location is amazing—super walkable with lots of cute shops and great restaurants nearby. Highly recommend this hotel for the excellent service, comfort, and location. We will definitely stay here again!

Man was this room disappointing. I booked a king, got two queens. Couldn't get into a king room. The rooms are very very dinged up and dingy. The only chair in the room was filthy. No glassware in the room, no drawers, no closets. There is a sad little nook that you can pull the curtain to cover, but that's about it for putting things away in the room. Not all the lights in the room worked. I would not recommend this hotel.

Great location, staff was nice on arrival but never explained anything about parking. The room had a musty smell and just felt poorly maintained for a newer hotel. I thought little of it. I was out until late, came back and then woke up in the middle of the night barely breathing and stuffy. The room had some kind of terrible allergen in it. I have now been out of the room for an hour and feel better. I told the front desk and said maintenance would look… I should have moved last night but was too tired. I walked out to my car in their garage and have a notice that I failed to register my vehicle- the garage said parking for Aloft, no mention of fees or registration and the front desk said nothing of it either. I will not be staying here again.

Just stayed for two nights with our dog. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The location is great. The room comfortable and clean. It worked perfectly for us. It was nice to have a bar area where we could sit and have a drink at the end of the day and our dog was welcome too. The simple drinks we got were very pricey, however…. Overall, a great place to stay, we thought.

Room was okay. Bathroom door was oddly large and heavy making it difficult to close. Random damages on was and doors. Grout job in shower was terrible. Paint job on wals especially near the elevator was amateur. You have to pay for parking. The parking lot was full on our last night and we had to park a block down. Hotel wouldnt refund us because they use a 3rd party to pay for parking. Pool table was all torn up and dirty and pool sticks were sticky. All these things wouldn't be such a big deal if the price of the room wasn't so high. Over priced for a not so amazing hotel. The cleaning lady on our floor was extremely nice and a delight everything we saw her! She deserves a raise and a promotion!
