University Mall
📍 Gay-friendly spas in Tuscaloosa
University Mall in Tuscaloosa offers a nostalgic shopping experience with a retro 80s aesthetic and a charming central courtyard featuring fountains and unique architecture. While it houses popular stores like Belk, JCPenney, and Victoria's Secret, the mall is currently facing challenges with numerous empty storefronts. Despite this, it remains a convenient and weather-proof shopping destination, especially during extreme weather conditions.
The mall also features a variety of local businesses and a few dining options, including a food court with national brands. With plenty of seating areas and well-maintained facilities, University Mall provides a pleasant environment for shoppers. However, some visitors have noted a strong odor and a lack of excitement, suggesting that the mall could benefit from new tenants and improved ambiance.

The times I've been to University Mall have been pleasant experiences. It is really a 80s nostalgic looking mall, and I really like the central courtyard which includes a couple of fountains and some pretty cool architecture. That being said, this mall is starting to show signs of decay. There are plenty of empty store fronts to go about, and I often worry about the strength of the mall going forward, especially considering the shopping center just across the street from the mall. That being said this mall holds plenty of advantages, and I hope to see the mall fill up again with new tenants going forward.
Great place to go during Christmas, it brings everything back full circle. Why would you want to park and have to walk outside to go to another store and another in the cold or rain. If your walking the mall you are warm and dry. Cool during the summer months and stores are everywhere you look under the same roof. It's sad that we are loosing the mall atmosphere and I hate to see it leave. So stop by and give it a try again only just to bring back old memories of walking the mall with all your friends.
A decent sized mall in Tuscaloosa, but it's sadly losing tenants over time with many empty storefronts located inside. There are still some typical mall stores inside, such as Bath and Body Works, Journeys, Belk, JCPenny, and Victoria's Secret. There's also many local businesses trying to make it in the retail scene. The food court only has a handful of restaurants, Applebee's and Auntie Anne's are the only national restaurants brands remaining. Photos are of the current state of the mall on 9-2-2024. Most stores are pictured, but not all.
This was awful it was a horrible horrible fish and rot smell in there. When we got by the control station and a female was passing by as well, whew I don't know who or what to blame for the smell. There are no great stores so I lost interest, I did get cookies and a slushy from American great cookies. The cookies wasn't good but the slushy was, this mall had very weird energy.
Oh, my goodness, this place looks like a desert. Terribly boring, almost no stores and nothing to do except buy a couple clothes if you want. There are many closed places inside and almost no people haha. If you are visiting, this is not the place to come have a fun walk.
The university mall is small, but it's a very decent mall for shopping prices are good they have different shops like Belk,JCPenney, Victoria secret,American eagle, Bath and body works.... Plus they have few spas, It's a fun place to visit on weekdays, there are plenty seating areas inside the mall very beautiful water pond's. There are Food court's inside very delicious food, the mall is clean and well maintained, over all we enjoyed our time there. Recommended!
I went to Stephanie's. Its a soul food restaurant inside of the mall. It wasn't that good at all. I got the whiting fish and it wasn't that good. Thin and way too hard to eat!! The cake was ok though
