We hosted our February 2025 wedding at Chicago Athletic Association and were very happy with our experience. First and foremost, the venue itself is striking. We wanted a venue with complex, historical detail and CAA delivers. The hotel under went an extensive historical restoration in 2015 and the preservation of architectural details is striking. A few offerings that made Chicago Athletic Association unique compared to other downtown hotel venues that we toured: -They only host one wedding per weekend, so your event is their only focus. - You have access to both their Madison and White City Ballroom for your reception and ceremony. So there is not a "take-down" of one space before it is transformed from ceremony to reception. -Dinner is made to order off of a pri fixe menu that you develop in advance with their catering team. Guests do not need to select their meal in advance. - You are given extensive access to the hotel for photography, which is not allowed if not hosting your event with the hotel. Hannah was our point person for food and beverage and was very communicative and helpful. We truly enjoyed working with her and cannot give enough positive feedback on the food prepared by CAA's head chef and catering team. Many of our guests complimented that it was the best food they had every experienced at a wedding. Our New York strips were a generous 14oz and each cooked to a perfect medium rare. The salmon was flavorful and served on a creamy garlic infused bed of pasta. The starters were creative, think winter citrus with burrata or garlic and ginger carrot soup. The options were limitless as the head chef meets with you personally to discuss your tastes and preferences before curating a menu. Their bar offerings were also extensive and we chose to partner with their in house restaurant, Cindy's rooftop and bar, to curate custom cocktails for us. The drinks were balanced, strong and exceeded anyone's expectations of the typical well drinks served at a wedding. While the hotel did provide extensive services on site including catering and a food and beverage coordinator, bar packages, hotel room block, etc. All of our external vendors were happy to work with the hotel and complimented the staff on how accommodating they were to work with. Overall our experience with the hotel staff outside of the special events team was positive. We did have one negative interaction with the person working the main floor lobby in regards to our photography, and a bit of a negative interaction with the game room bartender seemingly underwhelmed with our last call for drinks after the reception. Otherwise our interactions with the hotel staff were positive. For accommodations, the hotel offers a suite for the bride and groom and also for parents. We chose to upgrade to one of their unique Founders Suites which made a gorgeous backdrop for pictures. If you are looking for an elegant, historical venue with a strongly executed food and beverage program that absolutely blows away typical catered wedding fair, check CAA out. We were very happy with our choice!

My girlfriend and I went there for srinks and snacks. It was wonderful!! We started in the game room and ended in the lobby lounge. It was so much fun and a little mini adventure into a Chicago gem. They have a happy hour but don't expect it to be cheap. It is a place for a special treat. Adult Disneyland.

I was really hoping this place would be as amazing as it looked on social media however my husband and I were very disappointed. Aesthetically speaking it is beautiful but service is nonexistent. We tried to check into the hotel only to be rudely directed upstairs to complete the process. Upon arrival to our room we quickly found there was almost zero storage. Just a few tiny drawers and minimal hanging space. We paid extra for a city view and it was most certainly not worth it. The absolute worst part of our stay was being asked to leave the game room by one of the hotel staff. We were barely into a fun game of chess when a tall man walked up and informed us in a very rude way that the bar was closed and we needed to leave. There were a million ways this man could have done better in delivering his request. Unfortunately, he decided to make it an awkward demand. I will never choose Chicago Athletic Association again as a result of this incident. Honestly, all the other disappointments we were willing to overlook but that was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend not staying here.

I have stayed in many hotels in many countries but this hotel is just made of something special. Every single staff person I interacted with went above and beyond in making me feel welcomed, helping me navigate the city, and ensuring I had the best stay possible. The entire hotel is meticulous in its design with every detail paying homage to the athletic club theme (there are vintage tennis racket handles as nightstand legs!). The lobby is so cozy, the location is ideal, and the rooms are spotless. If you are visiting Chicago, this is the only hotel you should stay at.

I was a guest at Chicago Athletic Association Jan 10 through the 12th, 2026. The service from front desk to food service and housekeeping was absolutely excellent. Though the room was small, it was immaculately clean. If old-world architectural features and details are meaningful to you, this hotel is a masterpiece in its own right. Make sure you take the tour with "Jean", and "Zena" is an expert in getting you informed and settled into your quarters. This is truly a Chicago "gem" with many athletic offerings like pickleball, roller skating, basketball, yoga, as its name suggests. This Hotel's location to Chicago's best offerings cannot be beat.

I trul enjoyed my stay here on a business trip, everything from check in check out was smooth. On the day of my check out I was in the hotel with my manager that was still staying in the hotel, I decided to wait in the lobby while she took a call and experienced the rude behavior of Natalia the drawing room host. My manager was upstairs and I saved a seat for her, instead of asking me was anyone sitting there, Natalia asked me was I guest and to show her my key card. As someone who just checked out hours prior and who was now staying with another guest who was still checked in, I didn't think it was a big deal that I work in the lobby. The way she spoke and didn't ask anyone else in the lobby to see their key card I was highly offended. That is not how you go about it. After I told her I was staying with someone here, she proceeded to hound me. This experience was very uncalled for and I felt attacked. Especially being the only black person and she chose to single me out. She could have said I can't save a seat but to repeatedly keep going after I told her I was a guest. On another note Rochelle was very kind and warm and totally turned my experience around, I truly appreciated her. As someone who use to work in hospitality, EVERYONE SHOULD BE WARM AND INVITING. Everything was perfect except for my interaction with Natalia!

Was pleasantly surprised by how much we liked this property. It is charming and warm. Terrific location. Rooms are small but very well appointed and clean. Somehow did not feel claustrophobic. Loved all the little details. ||||Coffee shop in the lobby is excellent, and have a Shake Shack on property was a bonus for a quick bite.
