1, It's close to downtown — you can take an Uber for around 15 bucks, or walk about 500 meters to a bus station.2, Super clean, well-equipped, and with a very comfortable bed.3, It was easy to get in and out of the room.

I booked my stay as I was driving to Chicago and I received a very detailed explanation of the check in process that was easy to follow once I got to the right location (there isn’t just one). I initially thought the deposit was high but I thought about the city and all that could possibly happen and so I let it be. It was promptly returned to me with no hassle so that’s even more relieving. The place was clean, cute and well maintained in my opinion. Omg and I had parking 🙂 it’s street parking but still right by the house which is lovely! I will be staying here again in the future!

I recently posted a decent Expedia review of our experience at Villa Dubois, however, things have gone drastically downhill since. First of all, I have not received my $300 deposit back and have been entirely ghosted by Villa Dubois with no reason why. Our first night there, we noticed a dent at the bottom of the door so I immediately took a picture of it and sent it to both Expedia and Villa Dubois to confirm it was already there prior to our arrival. If I'm being blamed for that, I literally have the receipts of the report. Secondly, OUR CAR WAS STOLEN from right outside Villa Dubois. We walked outside on the morning we were leaving and all there was was shattered glass and two E-bikes the thieves left in place. When we alerted the contact number for Villa Dubois, they offered absolutely zero help. They have a camera facing the street and couldn't be bothered to assist the police in any way whatsoever. This place is an absolute sham and I discourage anyone from booking with them, even if it seems cost-effective. I have sent multiple Venmo requests for the $300, which have gone ignored our been denied, so I know they're seeing them. At this rate, I have no choice but to move forward with a lawyer, as I refuse to let Villa Dubois do this to any other guests.

We booked a stay with Villa Dubois while we were in town for a concert. We really enjoyed our stay there. When we arrived the check in process was easy and had clear instructions for entering the property. Our room was a deluxe with our own private bathroom. The room was clean and very comfortable, bathroom was spacious and had a great standing shower. Even though it was a shared living space the noise from the other guests was quiet and we weren't at all disturbed by them while staying there. The location was very navigatable for us while using public transportation. Even when we came back in the later hours of the evening. We felt safe the entire time even while we were enjoying strolls through the neighborhood to the nearest train or bus stop. The deposit of $300 we felt was fair and was promptly returned to us day of our check out after leaving the property exactly as we found it. We definitely will be looking to staying there again when we are in Chicago next time!

I stayed at Villa Dubois Guest House for a few nights and really enjoyed it. My room was spotless and felt cozy, the whole house was quiet, and check-in was super easy. The host stayed in touch and made sure I had everything I needed. I’d definitely book here again next time I’m in Chicago.

I booked a reservation with these crooks. I had fully paid for my room and when I get there, they tell me that I have to put $500 down before I can get inside. They settled for 300. When I got inside. The room was very small the bed was very, very low Extremely uncomfortable. However, it was very clean cozy, but The room was not as advertised on the website. It was just not what I expected. Upon my exit of this property, I was told that I would receive my deposit. And they never refunded my deposit. Anybody who gets this place you are doomed to destruction they are crooks.. I also found out that they are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau. You just simply have to take them to court or call the police because that is exactly what I’m about to do..

I booked a stay at Villa Dubouis Guest House in Chicago through Expedia for October 24–25 and October 26–27, 2025. When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I discovered the property was located in a dark, unsafe, and desolate neighborhood — completely different from what was advertised online. There was no front desk, no lights, no visible staff or security, and the place looked abandoned. I tried calling and texting the phone number posted on the door multiple times, but no one ever answered. Even my Uber driver warned me that it was not a safe area and refused to leave me there alone. I was left stranded late at night in a neighborhood that clearly posed a safety risk. I had no choice but to leave immediately and find another hotel at my own expense. What’s even more disappointing is that after reporting everything to Expedia, they denied my refund request, claiming the property refused to honor it — despite the fact that I never even had access to my room and was never greeted or assisted by anyone. This is not about canceling a reservation — I arrived, I was there, and there was no way to safely check in or stay. Villa Dubouis Guest House misrepresents its safety and accessibility, and Expedia’s handling of the situation has been extremely disappointing. I hope my review prevents other travelers — especially women traveling alone — from experiencing what I went through.
