Crowne Plaza Newark Airport, an IHG Hotel

I had an absolutely outstanding experience checking in at the Crowne Plaza near Newark Airport, and it was all thanks to Jeff. From the moment I arrived, he made the entire process smooth, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. Traveling can be stressful, especially near a busy airport, but Jeff’s professionalism and warm attitude immediately put me at ease. As an IHG Rewards member, I truly appreciated how he acknowledged my membership and went the extra mile to make the stay feel special. He kindly offered drink vouchers for me and my guests, which was a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. It’s small touches like that that turn a routine hotel stay into a memorable experience. What really stood out was Jeff’s hospitality. He was attentive, friendly, and clearly takes pride in making guests feel valued. It’s rare to encounter someone who goes above and beyond the way he did. Employees like Jeff are the reason guests choose to return to a hotel again and again. Crowne Plaza is lucky to have someone like Jeff representing their brand. He truly deserves recognition—and honestly, a raise—for the level of service he provides. Thank you, Jeff, for making our stay start off so well!

Stayed for a quick night before an early morning flight. When we got to the area and discovered an issue with our prearranged parking, the hotel staff were awesome in helping to calm me down and help us with a solution. They arranged for us to leave our vehicle at the hotel and matched the price for the prearranged parking that we had set up. We used the airport shuttle and had no issues with that even with going to the airport at 3:30AM and returning at 1AM.

Positive: Staff Negative: Parking charge was high, and no continental breakfast. Beds were super springy, not a soft and comfy as other hotels. Room could have been a little nicer, but its was clean and quiet for being close to airport. Too expensive for what you get.

Very nice experience warm, cozy feeling the staff was very nice and attentive. They let us know that they were happy we were there but getting to the room, everything smelled so clean and fresh. I don’t know if they have a deodorizer but it just smells like clean laundry and I love that. I found the rooms very clean and nicely appointed great stay. A luggage rack would have been nice, We were traveling for 24 hours so it was a nice respite. Oh and the shuttle it was very easy and the drivers made you feel very welcome.

Stayed at this location for the convenience of entering New York City. We had a fantastic stay, all staff was super friendly and nice. Room was clean and was serviced as requested. Breakfast is great and had such friendly waiters! Gladys was the most helpful of all, gave us recommendations on our stay and mostly for our travel into New York City. Would definitely recommend!!

Convenient location close to airport. Reasonable, free airport shuttle. Quality of breakfast food was good and the breakfast waiter was excellent, kind, understanding and efficient. However, I paid extra for breakfast via the hotel website thinking it was for all three of us, only to then discover it was only for a single person. Reception staff were then unhelpful at explaining and resolving this, which caused some frustration and wasted time. The costs of extras should have been clearer prior to booking ($19.95 pp for breakfast, $22 per night for parking). Also, I had to phone on arrival for an airport shuttle and the shuttle then sent was unlabelled, making it unclear if it was the correct one.

Our flight was delayed causing us to miss a connection so the airline directed us here for the night. The restaurant was out of everything. The bartender don’t show so the poor server trying to cover him didn’t know how to make any of their "signature drinks". The front door is broken and permanently open now which has the entire 1st floor, lobby, restaurant, bar, etc FREEZING. We get in our room and there is severe damage to the wall and the wall behind the wallpaper was rotted out and crumbling when you touch it. The kicker…. We lay down to rest before our 4am trip back to the airport and A ROACH (the small ones, German roach) crawls across the bed. If you know these bugs you know where there is one there’s millions and if they get in your luggage, good luck. We go downstairs to request to speak with the manager to change rooms but he was covering the airport shuttle because of being short staffed so we waited and waited for close to an hour and he never showed up. Finally, the lady at the desk changed our room and tells us the GENERAL MANAGER is upstairs staying in one of the rooms while all this chaos is happening downstairs. This was the final straw. We left. The building is run down and dirty. Poorly managed. Just awful. The staff was very nice and apologetic. We let the airline know they probably don’t want to partner with a place like this.
