The Blue House, Fort Lauderdale (Guesthouse)

This small apartment complex is a mixed bag, but overall disappointing. The "villa" I received was nicely laid out with a particularly generous amount of space devoted to the kitchen. Lots of counter space stretching a full 14 feet on one side. Full sized dishwasher, microwave and oven gave the initial impression that dining in would not be a problem. Some of the things it lacked, like a garbage disposal and a blender, are non essentials and you would have appreciated, but not expected them. The most basic and inexpensive items it lacked were extremely annoying, like no can opener and not one large serving bowl. I had to use a pan as a large bowl for strawberries. Another big negative was in spite of the space the living room provided the mini split A/C unit there produced a loud, high pitched squeal that, after a while, drove you out of the room. Judging from other reviews, some over a year old, this has been a big problem for a while and the same unit every morning produced condensation that dripped onto the couch (mold!). The unit in the bedroom fortunately was silent and much more efficient. I spent much of the stay in the bedroom to escape the noise. Once I became accustomed to the entry from Davie Blvd, the location worked well for me with easy access to 95 and close to my gym. I wish I could recommend the property, but it hasn't addressed the most basic problems. Upon my arrival, I alerted management (Jess xxx-1269) that a missing can opener was an issue to no response. 2 out of 5

1) The bed was not lumpy. Howerver, It was low to the ground, very soft, ie unsupportive and so thin I could feel.the frame boards underneath. The support lega are poorly placed to guarantee stubbing your foot. 2) the freezer hadn't been defrosted in so long the ice cube tray almost doesn't fit. 3) Had to turn TV on manually. Then the control work for functions. 4) The dinner plates don't fit in the small microwave. 5) The toilet base seems to have an intermittent leak. 6) Hot tub was pretty low on water.

We had a great stay and would definitely recommend! This place has a nice "at home" feeling. It was certainly not a hotel, which we weren't expecting or wanting. The bonus was that the price was WAY BETTER than getting a hotel room. Jess was super nice and responded to a couple questions we had within a short time; she coordinated our arrival time well when we arrived a little early. Entrances were private. There's a nice private common area with a hot tub and a grill. The unit we stayed in had a private screened in porch area that is shared with another unit. Everything was very clean and welcoming. Even the Florida lizards were polite and fun to hang out with; especially Paco, who I think may have been part of the service staff. But he kindly joined me and enjoyed my banana for breakfast; he was great conversationalist! It would be a perfect place to book a couple units for a family/friend trip or for just a quiet getaway.

We came to Blue house and I was pleasantly surprised. Our cottage was very roomy and well decorated. It had all the amenities that we needed. It was very clean and the bed and the sheets were exceptionally comfortable. The only thing I wish it had was a TV in the bedroom. It was very quiet and centrally located to everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again! I highly recommend it. It was so much more comfortable than a hotel room.

Beautiful setting! Rooms are very clean and stocked! Grounds are clean. Parking is tight. Laundry on site. Has a hot tub & grill. Very responsive to messages & to helping with any requests or issues. We will definitely be back!

I have only been here once but the experience is great as the people who works here are so nice. What a great place! I recommend this place if you need a safe place to get comfortable.

I found this guesthouse by accident after searching high and low for a place to stay last month and during high season. From the time I spoke to Cynthia I felt relieved and knew she would definitely take good care of me. I was given a beautiful suite with all the amenities I needed and the property is beautiful and well taken care of. It is peaceful and quiet and you fell at home away from home. Cynthia was super helpful, warm and friendly and was a really genuine and caring host. I even needed a ride before I left and she graciously helped me with an Uber. I cannot thank Cynthia and her staff for making my stay in Fort Lauderdale so memorable and I will definitely be back as The Blue House is my number one place to stay.
